Which bass fights the hardest?

I meant to type spotted, i know it sounds like i meant to say spooted.

As far as hardest fighting IMO it would be the smallmouth bass followed by spotted bass then largemouth. As for the elusive spooted bass they fight so hard that they will always break your line.

As far as those spooted bass go, I once held the potential IGFA World Record in my hand.  I had, like many others, hooked into this one and it broke me off.  And like so many other bass, when it was thrashing around to get my broken off hook out of its mouth, it jumped into my boat.  Not knowing the difference at the time, I foolishly released it back into the water without a picture or an official weight.  But I am sure it was the IGFA World Record!!!!

I hooked into a spooted bass one time his fight was so strong he snapped 40#braid in open water

The Spooted Bass once held a hook in it's mouth...just to see what it felt like.

Pound for pound id say spots

I would say smallies fight hardest pound for pound, but I recently had an encounter with a spooted that basically defied everything I ever learned...

Know nothing about the freshwater ones, but those saltwater ones are a boatload of fun!!!!

You don't get it... but you sure can have fun with a boatload of them.

 Forget about striper, I'll take a permit over anything swimming, very hard to catch using artificial lures

(live crabs are best), fight is something pretty special with long runs, they don't give up.

A boatload of strippers ? How cool would that be ? Geeez, you'd have to be like Chuck Norris LOL

Pound for pound it's the river fish that fight the hardest. After all there swimming 24/7 with no break. To me they hit the hardest too. They even tail walk too.

 

On the small ponds and lakes it's the smallest for sure with there lightening fast strikes.

 

But the bigger gals being LMB will give my lure a tour of a small pond before I can land them. It's usually a slow dragged out fight

 

My best fights and battles has been with the larger 25" to 30" chain pickerel. It makes me want to go northern pike and Muskie fishing.
