I would like to get my brother and brother in=law a couple of lures for x-mas. I know they would never buy these for them selves so it would be a little unique. My question is what would be best for a couple of newbies . Also color would help if youve had a lot of luck with a certain color. I like the look of the REAL VIBE lure, but dont Kow if there worth a hoot. One choice is a jerkbait as I like them myself.

I guess for a couple of newbees I would recomend a lipless crank.

Their Sammys and Pointers are the best!

Never used one, but every fisherman I've talked to about them recommends them.

Since I don't know the waters that he will be fishing I'll tell you what I would like to get.

Floating ; Sammy 100 in Chart Shad or American Shad.

             Gunfish 95  in Aurora Black or Table Rock shad.

Suspending Pointer 100 or Slender 112. Aurora black or Aurora Bass

Crankbait: Moonsault CB 100. American Shad

Lipless: LV 500 in Chart. Shad.

Which ever you select will fill up anyone Christmas Tree.

I don't know what a Real Vibe lure is.

Pointers and Sammies are my fave's as well.

There are a few LC lures that I think are excellent baits for beginners.

the Sammy makes wlaking the dog a walk in the park

the LV500max takes the lipless crank to a whole new level

the pointer 78 is simply irresistable.

I would be very happy if Santa left a few of these under the tree for me.

Went to Gander Mt and there stock was depleted. Picked up one pointer 78 in a shad color. Guess I gotta go to Basspro tomorrow, SIGH! Oh well a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.

Here is my opinion on the matter.  I have several Real Vibes and they are tough to fish.  They are heavy (1 ounce) and really can't be fished with a direct retrieve (like a Rattle Trap can).  Where the Real Vibe shines is in the spring, because they are weighted to sit with their mouth on the bottom to simulate the position of a bluegill eating the eggs of a spawning bass.  You also need heavier equipment to handle this lure, which fisherman new to bass fishing may not have.  I would highly recommend the Lucky Craft Pointer 100SP.  These are easy to fish and work very well.  I would also recommend the Yo-Zuri Rattlin'Vibe.  This is by far the best lipless crankbait out there.  The Lucky Craft Sammy is a very good lure, but it takes some practice to get it to work right.  Someone new to bass fishing may get frustrated with it and not use it.  Again, this is just my opinion based on my experience.

LV-200 or LV-300S. These lipless cranks catch bass and are user friendly (cast and retrieve).

Another easy to use lure is the Rick Clunn 2.5, which as Raul pointed out, are currently on sale.
