Must have soft plastics and color?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to build a good starter set of soft plastics, but I'm not sure what is a "must have" and what color. I currently have:

Fluke pearl w/gray back and blue flakes

Fluke watermelon green with black flakes (?)

Senko 5" green/white

Senko 5" black/red

Senko 5" midnight blue (?)

Green/Brown Frog

Black/Red Tailed Worm

Black/Blue Tailed Worm

Brown/Tan Kreature Brushhog (?)

Orange/Tan twin tail trailer

Green Tube baits

I bought these 3 years ago and then was unable to fish for 2 years. So I'm trying to rebuild. Any suggestions?

colors: green pumpkin / black / black-blue or bait fish colors

i always have these on hand:

double tail hula grub

baby brush hog

craw papi

paca craw

crazy legs chigger craw

trick worm/finesse worm

fat ika

rage tail baits (baby rage craw)

3.5" tubes

4" grubs

senko

Berkley worms black and junebug

baby brush hogs. they are extremely versatile and you only need two colors.  junebug and watermelon candy.  I ALWAYS have one tied on and choose color and weight size according to water color and such.

4" Senko (watermelon and black blue flake)

4" Finesse worm (green pumpkin, blue fleck)

7" Power worm (black, red shad)

4" DT Hula (green pumpkin)

Thats all I need this time of year.

Paca craw- rootbeer pepper green, alabama craw, black/blue flake.

Zoom ol monster- junebug, tequilla sunrise, watermelon candy

Zoom brush hog- alabama craw, green pumpkin, black/blue

Zoom speed craw- same colors as above

Yum dinger- watermelon, junebug

Netbait paca chunks for jigs- rootbeer pepper green, black/blue flake, green pumpkin candy, alabama craw

Netbait b-bug- green pumpkin, black/blue

Berkley chigger craw- pumpkin green flake

Zoom big tube- green pumpkin

Zoom trick worm- green pumpkin, watermelon candy, pink

I'll add to your list and the mentions worms in watermelon color, as well as Zoom Lizard 6" in watermelon red chartreuse.

Rage Craw always wins :P Got to have the green w/ red flake!

Right now with Bass on deep brush and in the bream mode as I call it, I like the YUM in Plum Candy (145) and Zoom Red Bug.Both 10". They seem to grade the fish for me and I catch bigger bass on them.IMHO Crowcommander

Well, I went out and got some soft plastics:

Zoom super fluke in baby bass

Rage Tail Craw in watermelon red flake

This weekend the lake I go to is closed, but I'm going to this small pond for practice. I think the bass are limited, but I do know some are in there. The water is fairly shallow and clear. I think the bass are holding in 3 possible areas, so its just getting them to bite. The weather is suppose to be hot, with hit or miss storms. I'll be fishing from the shore, but clear spots to fish from are limited.

From what I read, I believe I want to use natural colors to the pond, with baits the resemble the forge. Is this right?

Any tips?

I think that in addition to the natural looking colors, you should get some wacky bright colors as well.  I have done reasonably well with the strike king coppertreuse finesse worm upon recommendation from someone here.  But some chartruese in the soft plastics definately can't hurt.
