Traveling On A Plane With Lures ??

Featured Replies

Can i travel with lures?  Heading to GA for a week and wanted to pack a small tackle box in my suitcase. They will not be in my carry-on bag.

Just a Plano box with some Jigs, hooks, weights and Buzzbaits.  And a couple separate bags of soft plastics.

Will I run into any problems ?

Thanks

As long as they are in your checked bag that goes in the belly of the plane, you will be fine. You just can't have anything in your carry-on.

This is correct.  Also, if taking reels, I highly suggest packing these in carry on.  I have had trouble in the past with line, but more recently they have allowed the line on the reels.  To be safe, however, I have taken out the spools and checked them and all is well.

I took my tackle bag as my carry on when we went to South Carolina on a Delta flight and had no problems.

I do this all the time.  If it's in your carry on then no issues.

You guys are lucky.  I have seen them confiscate the whole tackle bags while going through TSA check points.  Then you have to get the package mailed to where you are going.  Better be safe and just check the lures.

You might get away with it on a domestic flight but better be safe & put all hooks in checked baggage. On international flights you have to check all hooks.
