Flukes

Featured Replies

I am just wondering what kind of gear you guys use to throw weightless flukes.  Also is there a method for weighting the fluke without destroying the action?

I usually use a mh fast spinning rod. In my opinion the fluke is at its best weightless.

Honestly you could just use a 4/0 superline hook and that would be enough weight.  But if you insist on adding weight for other reasons then you should look into nail weights.

7ft mh with 50lb braid and either a superline straight shank or ewg depending on my mood  8-)

Same rig I use to throw weightless Senko's..7'mf baitcaster, or a 7'6" mxf spinning rig, if I want to go down in line size.

You can use a 1/8oz keel weighted hook to fish deeper water. Just make sure the hook is Straight.

Don't forget about the "Donkey Rig".  ;D

Same as my shakey head and senko rod. 6'6" MF Spinning combo. Really anything weightless i throw with this combo. Just use a 4/0 hook, it has enough weight on its own. Might want to try a 7' rod though. I am thinking of a longer rod for a better hookset. Either will work though  ;)

Donkey rig is a double fluke set-up. I've never used it but it imitates schooling/feeding bait. Someone will elaborate on the how to rig.
