You know, if there is nothing seemingly rational about it, it could be a fear of losing thier dad.  You mentioned the ex's family and they could be talking about taking the boys from you, or trying to anyway.  I feel for you and the boys, as this is a tough situation.

First off, hats off to you Clayton. I have a lot of respect for single dads. My dad raised me and my brother on his own. As far as your son being scared, a nightlite or maybe a flashlight could be a good idea. Best of luck man.

That would be awesome but everyone treats my boys differently. The ex and her family use fear to control them they whine or are bad and so and so will get you that's why Noah is terrified of chipmunks.

That is the worst when the 2 parents are opposites like that, nothing could be more harmful to the kids. Also, I'm pretty sure your son is the only person in the world afraid of chipmunks.

Chippies are the devil's minions. I'm with your son, I hate them. Lol.

Im only 16 so i have no experience in parenting (thank god) but i can actually remember what worked for me when i went through that phase. I had a "monster stick" or some crap like that. Basically it was a stick that i was told can beat down the monsters. Made me feel secure when i was scared. i dont know your son but i know i was that kid that liked the idea of being able to defeat what scared me rather than run away. Another thing that helped was having my dog in the room, from when i was born my dogs always protected the house with everything they had and i liked the idea of having something that would protect me in the room with me. Hope i  helped in some way
