I live in Ohio and have never seen anything like that. Any chance that's a baby snakehead?

I thought that for a second, but the color patern of the snakehead is not present.

It was a weird little thing. It had a mouth like a largemouth, big and wide open, but its head was flattened, just like a flathead.

The burbot thing is a possibility, but the coloration seems different there too.

Probably a species of eel. They're around. Catch it on a worm?

yup. live redworm.

after looking at the pa fish and wildlife website, and based on where I caught it, it does appear to be a burbot.

Burbot have barbells on their chin, you said it did not.

However, it does look like a burbot.

I was gonna say bowfin, but that underside fin looks very burbotlike.

It's not a bowfin. I've caught them before. Bowfin have 4 fins on their bellies, not one long fin. I looked at images of burbot and it doesn't look like that either. Looks similar to images of a freshwater eel.

Looks like a bur-fin-eel

I can't help but be extremely disappointed in your lame attempt at comedy. I think we all deserve an apology. :wink2:

You're right, however I'm on vacation and the alcohol is only allowing that much out for now. :D
