Hmmmmm.  There have been rumors, and a statement by Bantam1, of more low-profile BC reel releases on the way from Shimano....perhaps in October.

Is this Gander Mountain price reduction a sign that there is a Core replacement on the way......................or is it just a really good sale...............

I think you hit it on the head. New reel coming think METal.

Funny thing is, the one shown in the ad is a leftie.

Yeah, and if you look at the bottom of the page, the pic for the 51, is a rightie....

Their description is wrong also. They say it has MG sideplates, but it does not. The 50/51 have carbon fiber sideplates. The bigger Core's have the MG sideplates. They weigh slightly more too, of course.

At any rate, great prices on these reels. I really like the pair I own, but just don't need anymore of them.

Maybe there's a new Core on the way? And maybe a Citica or reel in sub-Curado price point? I think the Citica's were recently clearanced by Dick's.

Great replies.... It sure looks like Shimano's & Gander Mountain's marketing departments are fishing too....

I wonder who bites!?!?!?!

You guys know I can't say anything yet. I will say they will not be CI4 models. One will me made of METal...and they will be low profile reels.

What was the price of the core's???

mike D

They had them for $249 for 4th of July with a $50 off of $250 coupon.  I picked up a pair for $200 each.

Gander Mtn tends to randomly mark down some gear.  They currently have Chronarch 201E7 for $149.  Add something cheap to get above $150 and use coupon code you can get another $15 off and free shipping.

All of the other Chronarchs are still $199.

d**n that is a really really good price!!!

I am in the process of buying one now off TT for $250. It's used but in mint condition. Wish I would have found this post sooner, would have definitely ordered at least one from gander.

I'm not a big fan of their in store selection, but they have good deals online.  They had a $50 rebate on St. Croix rods early this year, plus the coupon code, so I picked up a new Avid crankbait rod for $125 shipped.

Yeah, they are sold out now so you can't add it to the cart. Anyone?

Boo sales tax, but thanks for the heads up on the Chronarch. $148 shipped. Not bad!
