The fly shop at the Bass Pro in Auburn sells these hemo - scissors with an orange coated handle. Probably the best tool I've found for removing hooks and cutting line, including braid.

Are the Gander pliers well-constructed?  They look to be similar in concept to the Browning/BPS pliers I have, but the problem I see with the Browning is that they're not manufactured very well, as the tolerances appear rather poor.  The jaws and the cutters get to a point where they're no longer pinching totally closed, so obviously this makes cutting lines an issue.

Give these a spin. No cutting abilities, but nail-clippers will do that for you.

I've been buying Snap-On for about 25 years and often wonder why because some of their tools are excessively expensive, but after seeing $300+ for those Van Staals, I don't feel so bad. Add: I make money with my Snap-On tools too.
