Just had a great weekend with Glenn, Long Mike, RoadWarrior, my brother Mike, and buddy John. Good fishing, top shelf food and drink; a fine get-away with some fine friends.

Glenn took a lot of pics. Hopefully he will post a few.

I don't know what's up with that pic. My bro took it using my iPad. The iPad normally takes outstanding pics.

I think Glenn caught the biggest bass, around 3 1/2 lbs. For the most part it's numbers

and constant action. I caught a small bass on my first cast. ghoti & Glenn caught over

twenty in the first hour. Spinnerbaits and soft plastics were red hot, especially the new

Rage Tail Cut R and GYCB Senko. I caught most of mine early on a MegaBass PopMax

or Vision 110 FX. Later it was NorthStar Original Swim Jig with a Rage Menace trailer.

In the afternoon it was all Cut R for me.

The first day, Glenn and I put well over 100 fish in the boat, with about 75% caught on a spinnerbait. We had a spinnerbait bite all day. I kept trying jigs and plastics deeper, looking for bigger fish, but that did not pan out at all. I really expected a deep jig / plastics bite at this time of the year. A week over warmer then typical weather preceeding our trip had the fish positioned shallower than normal.

The second day was a little different. Glenn and I again had a good spinnerbait bite until about 11am, then it just died. We found the fish positioned on a drop from 6 to 22 feet. Caught a few from that spot and went looking for more spots like it. Turned out the only steep drops that produce were one next to extensive flats. Kind of backwards from most expectations. You know, look for a flat adjacent to deep water. This was look for a drop adjacent to a flat. When we figured that out, we were back on the fish, just at a bit slower catch rate. The bite picked upp when we switched to cranks. Glenn tied on a trap, and I tied on a Koppers bluegill crank. That's how we finished out the day; repeated drifts across a large flat, catching fish on every drift. Not as many fish as the first day, but still a great day. And, this was the first time in at least three years that I actually threw a crankbait.

One night, Long Mike fed us some of his wife's excellent gumbo. A special thanks again to Marlene for the top shelf chow. Kent made a seafood fettucini one night that was also top shelf. I made dinner one night and breakfast two mornings. My brother, Mike, supplied some very good South African wines. John supplied the excellent scotch and bourbon. Glenn brought great coffee from the northwest.

A good time was had by all. Maybe Glenn will chime in with some pics. He took quite a few.

Great place for LOT'S of numbers.  Most fish were between 1-1 1/2 lbs.  Biggest was 3 1/2 on a Siebert Jig w/Rage Craw trailer.  Good times, great memories.  Here's a few pics:
