Has anyone ever tried a worm on a skirted jig? If so what were the results

One of the last FLW Magazines had a small article regarding this. If you have access to past issues 'd check it out

I've had success with 4-5 inch Senko type baits on skirted jigs, I'm sure others would work.

This is a very common combination. We used to call a skirted jig with a soft plastic worm trailer a bum, as in hobo, not today's slang. The popular worm back in the day was a Superfloat worm and split the tail about 3".

I used this extensively this summer for smallmouth with a 1/4oz or smaller jig in local rivers.  For some reason it seemed to get hung up less than other trailers.  The 3" senko or similar stick bait worked great, better than a grub IMO.

I don't do this much, but the fish on my avatar was caught on a jig with short ringworm on one winter afternoon. The worm could have been a cut one, I don't remember. 

I don't use them much on jigs, but on blade baits and chatterbaits I sometimes will put a pretty heavy/large worm on.  Rip it up and drop.

I cut a little bit off the head of a 5" stick bait and use it on a jig all the time, works great at times. 

I keep meaning to do this, I always default to creature/craw trailers though
