Moaner hooks

What's the deal with the name?  I get the name recognition from Owner, but seriously?

I'm sure they are quality hooks.  If Steve Parks is using them, that is a nod toward the quality. I trust Big O's opinion on tackle.

I just think it's a little dirty playing that close to another name....

Um, yeah... Look at the names of the hooks too.. Stiffy? And yes, they are good hooks :)

Hey Speed, as Nate mentioned...their individual products play off of the Moaner Brand name which is a bit different than the industry standard.

Their Weighted Stroker (weighted hook) is a terrific set up for any soft plastic to provide a more parallel fall due to it's weight position on the hook shank and the overall weight shape is a good design too.

Strong sharp hooks and I think you'll like'em  :)

Moaner hooks are just Mustad Ultrapoints, so yeah they are good.

Big O, can you confirm this statement?

Yes they are...and the wire is strong enough to hold big fish yet small enough diameter to sink the hook point with less force than larger dia. wire hooks require.

Swimbait style offerings are regularly fished on Mono and/or Fluoro with long casts...so being able to get a dependable hookset on the end of a cast is nice

How about pulling some strings and getting them to make a hook for the Thumper worms like we talked about.  :)

I use the standard 6/0 Stroker for them when I'm using 25lb Fluoro and then change to the Heavy hook you and I discussed when I can throw braid  :)

I like the Moaner hooks a lot.  Great quality and the prices are great too.  I've been using the weighted stroker for Lobsters, Annies, and Thumpers with great results.

I prefer the 6/0 unweighted, but either way, I agree...great hooks!

;D ;D

I never put the two together until you brought it up.

I always just thought of them trying to use "provactive" names throughout the company.  I think the names actually detract from the brand.  Dumb names like that make it difficult to take the actual product seriously.  I mean Stiffy?  Really?  If some guy asks me what I'm fishing with, I'm supposed to tell him "A Stiffy!"?

But RI's Sweet Beaver was a success, so those types of names can't be all bad.
