Fall Baits, Fall Colors, Fall Rythems, Fall?????

Featured Replies

Whats this all about fall??? KVD, Mike Ike  says they enjoy fishing the fall more than spring??? Come on' u can't catch big bass in the fall can u? Ive read the articles but these guys are season pros.

Never fished in the fall until yesterday , bass fishing for me was done in the spring through summer and then i moved on the other thing such as hunting big game. But can you catch a large on in the fall?/ I tried yesterday but couldnt find the bass. I thrown jigs, spinnerbaits, inline spinners, shallow cranks, deep cranks, minnows...etc. nothing...did get a bit off a minnow though...but now im thinking ok where are the bass.

Had an engineering friend of mine make something for me....a fish finder literally. Its a small gps camera that records and scales whats on the lake. From top to bottom. It shows a 3D scan of what everything looks like.

I put this out earlier one day and man....fish were where i figured they were..but they werent biting what I was throwing. I wnet from a 7.1 to 6.3 to a 5.3 to a 4.7.  ^65lbs braid 30 pound fluro. 20 pound fluro 15 pound fluro 10 pound fluro....nothing.

The pounds not over fished. In my opinion at times it can be under fished....

Didnt know what to do??? But Ima try it again soon. Weather changing water is getting colder..let me know if you can help me with anything.. Would gladly appreciate it.

You need to post a picture of that Fish finder, Maybe can get your friend to make me one.

fish are gorging themselves on available forage in the fall getting ready for the winter transition. you can catch some fatties in the fall.

Fall fishing is amazing both for numbers and for lunkers. Up here in new England I might call fall fishing different from what you call fall fishing in Georgia. I decide what my plan for the day is depending on water temperature. I plan on fishing this weekend up here and they are forecasting snow showers and highs in the 40s.  My favorite fall baits are jigs, blade baits, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. If the water temp is in the 55-60 degree range or higher there are still shallow fish to be caught. Once its 50-55 I concentrate more time deeper 15-45 ft for example. As soon as the water temp is 50 degrees or colder I spend almost all my tie deep. If the fish have moved deeper I fish the primary drop offs, main lake points and my favorite steep drop offs like bluffs. The key is though finding the forage. The fish can really be bunched up this time of year. If your not catching fishing then move until you find them. You will have to fish slow though. I use natural colors in the fall that imitate crayfish as well as minnows such as shiners and perch. Fall fishing can be some of the best of the year. pleasure boaters and jet skiers are gone. Some fisherman have put in the rods in exchange for a rifle. Go get em and don't get discouraged !

Fall fishing is on fire for me, took me all summer long of catchin dinks ans in the past month ive started catchin some of the biggest in the lake I think, im told theres 6+lbers but yet to see or hear of the catch. Talked to several ppl that say the bigguns are almost impossible to catch without minnows n bobbers and thw store owner said the biggest they'd heard of was 16" for this year, but yeah my fall fishin has been awesome.

This pic was last saturday, was friggen cold, sunny, windy. Post coldfront conditions these were the 4 biggest

I've done pretty well this fall on shallow to medium diving cranks with natural colors imitating minnow or shad. No lunkers, but a lot of decent fish.

In the fall I usually start off with larger baits like 3/4 ounce cranks.  The bass seem to like the bigger baits better than the smaller stuff.
