I purchased and seem to do pretty well with a mann's -1 crankbait. my question is, as i reel in, it looks to me like he swims like a crankbait on crack. like if a normal crank bait swims towards me, it goes left-right-left as it comes in. the mann's goes waayleft-waaayright-waaayleft. it doesn't look natural.

is that normal?

I have a couple of manns and they seem to have a wide wobble to them. I don't know if it is the same thing you are referring to. The 2 i have both wobble in the same fashion so i think it is just the design of the lure. Of course if its catching fish just roll with it and have fun!

Yep that is the beauty of the bait. You may also want to try a Storm Sub Wart.

I painted one of my -1's gloss black and used it at night as an alternative to a Jitterbug. Worked like a champ.

if you can find one a lucky craft flat cb sr is awesome  and runs about same depth as a minus 1.. great bait for fishing submerged grass

I've read that wide wobble crankbaits are better when the fish are more on the active side, and tight wobble crankbaits are better when the fish are more on the lethargic side. Makes sense, but I can't say I've experienced this to be true.

Yesterday i caught my biggest bass of the year on the smallest version. The area i caught it i usually throw a spinnerbait,but there was full sun and barely a ripple, and in my experiences, not good for spinbaits. I rarely use the 1-, but now i will keep it in mind...

The one minus does have a rather wide swing in its wobble. Maybe your just not accustomed to that action in a crankbait?  Or maybe you got one that is just "off."  It's one of my favorite baits for fishing over submerged weeds so be sure to give it a fair chance.

I have noticed this with the new 1-minus baits. The ones that run wide but, straight back to the boat are the older models(made in the U.S.A. models) with 1-minus molded onto the side of the bait. Only difference I can find is that the line tie on the older ones is farther away from the bait. Some of the new ones I have will try to run on their side, plane off, and do all sorts of stupid stuff even when I hold the rod tip down.
