Buzzbait weight

Featured Replies

What size do you guys usually throw? I know there are different weights, but I never think twice about it when making my purchase.

Thanks,

VC

Usually 3/8oz to 1/2oz, but I have some in 1/8oz.

I really prefer the heavier ones because you can cast them a mile.

I agree with above, 3/8 is usually the swet spot as it stays on top a bit easier than 1/2

Well I ordered a few 1/2 oz. persuaders because they are on sale for $1.88. Only in that size and black and chartreuse for colors.

Depends on the day, but I like a 1/4 oz for a slow presentation. If the bass aren't hitting that I'll go to a 1/2 oz and speed it up. Basically, let the fish tell you how they want the presentation.

Buzzbaits, IMHO, are a hit and miss lure, meaning the bass either want it or they don't. I'll make 2 cast maximum to the same spot, if no bites or a boil, then it's time to change up or go to another spot.

I usually use 1/2 oz but i have some smaller ones. i just bought a bunch at wally world. they had terminator buzzbaits and spinnerbaits for $2.

1/4 and 3/8.

I throw 1/2 oz 75-80% of the time because I fish where big bass are & big buzz baits cause more commotion. To keep a 1/2 oz on top easier keep your rod tip high when you begin your retrieve and slowly lower it as the bait gets closer to you. Speeding up or slowing down the speed of your retrieve will also help keep the buzz bait on top.

I fish a river and some marshes in Southwest Louisiana that produce a high percentage of small bass; for these areas I'll throw 1/8, 1/4, or maybe a 3/8 oz.

I basically buy them by the size rather than the weight. The tougher the fishing the smaller the buzzbait I throw, and visa versa, if they are really chasing I'll throw a huge one looking for a huge bite.

Mostly 3/8. Shallow clear water I drop down to 1/4.

At night I move up to 1/2 all black. Bigger blades.

I always use double bladed baits. Slowest retrieve speed (yes, slower than Cavitron), yet can be burned if needed also.
