Yo-Zuri Hybrid

Recommended Posts

I see guys, especially Roadwarrior, recommend Yo-Zuri Hybrid quite often on here. Yet, I always am seeing line recommendations for various techniques of either Floro or Braid. My question is: What techniques are you using Yo-Zuri Hybrid for, and why are you choosing this over floro in these situations?

I use Yo-Zuri for nearly all my applications.  I do have some braid on some niche rods, and flouro on an NRX rod, but by and large I use YZ for most casting and spinning setups.

Why?  Mostly cost vs. performance. YZ is not necessarily the ideal line for any particular application...but it's a cost effective and "good enough" line for most applications.  Since I'm keeping line on about 45 reels, cost is a significant factor for me.

I think it's just a great bang for the buck.  Also, it's a copoly, so it's not 100% just mono.  I don't like the memory and stretch of mono and although it doesn't solve those problems entirely, it gets pretty close.

Cranks, spinners, buzzbaits, t-rigs, drop shot, grubs, jigs, swimbaits, jerkbaits....are a few.

I don't know why anyone would not give it a try. Yo-Zuri is inexpensive, strong, tough

and user friendly. Most guys like it, some don't. I recommend #6 on spinning tackle;

#12 for baitcasters. I used KVD Line & Lure Conditioner on this and all other brands.

I used it all last season on both baitcaster and spinning reels.  Like Roadwarrior said   6 and 12 lb works great.  I did try using 15lb and it never did fish that great even with line conditioner on it.

I used 12# for a while. It's a good line. I still use it as leader material for certain applications.

Fluro for jig and worm reels.

Mono for swimbait reels

YZ hybrid on every other reel I own.

Techinque- #12 yozuir hybrid on baitcaster - jerkbait, top water, t rig

#6 yozuri hybrid on spinning - drop shot and trout and pan fish

Choosing this overr flouro because for 600yrds for a price of 11.99 its hard to beat. It may not be seaguar or sunline but it gets the job done.

I use only 2 lines. PP braid on 3 outfits, and yozuri on the other 2 (10lb - 15 lb) It's cheap, and both will cause you 0 problems.

I use it for leader material only, but it is always in competition with P-Line Floroclear, and I've added pure fluoro to the mix.

I will use them interchangeably. I am not certain pure FC is necessary over the copoly lines. Different strokes for different folks.

YZH is inexpensive and good quality line.

I use it for most all fast moving baits (SB, BB, CB (shallow), paddletails, jerkbaits, etc...)

I use fluoro for slow baits the fish get time to look at (Jigs, T-rig)

Flippin, punchin, & umbrella rig gets braid

Drop shot, mojo rig, and shakey head gets braid w/ fluoro leader

Topwater & swimbaits get mono

Would it have good sensitively as a leader for say... #10 braid for spinning tackle, or should I use 100% fluoro?

I would be fine, IMO. There are positives to using pure FC, but it is not absolutely 100% necessary... Plenty of folks use YZH for everything.

Yzh... I have used this line for 10 years and I love it the line is crazy strong.. Excellent line for the money ...great for flip and pitch styles but drop down to 8 pound for cranks it's really good on bait casters...also for me not so good on spinning reels but that's me

Are there any techniques where you opt for Floro or braid instead?
