Line Diameter Advice For Spinning Reels

Featured Replies

Hey fellas,

I have a question about putting 12lb Tatsu FC line on a 2500 spinning reel if it is the same line diameter as 8lb Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon. I ask this because I plan on using this reel on a St. Croix Rage 6'8" MXF rod and I plan to use this rod for drop shots, worms, and stick baits. A lot of guys run 8lb line on this setup, but if Tatsu is rated at 12lb and has a smaller diameter than most lines will it affect my lures action in anyway? I only ask this cause I bought 3 spools of 12lb Tatsu while TW had a sale going on, so this would save me some money from having to order to more line. What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Sam

I am using #6 on spinning tackle without ANY issues.

I don't think you are going to like #12, but you will love

it on a baitcaster!

Agree with RW. Id opt for 8# tatsu at the most
