2013 Kills

Featured Replies

I saw another thread like this, and thought it was pretty cool. Im bored tonight, so I figured I would post some pics of the kills I got this past year. Nothing special, but I was proud none the less!

This was my first of the season. I dont bow hunt, only rifle and shotgun, so I didnt start taking deer until November. We didnt see any big bucks this year like we normally do. All the bigger bodied bucks we saw had really crazy, ugly racks.. This being one of them. He was hittin close to 200 pounds. 5 point, with a 16'' spread

My second was this smaller doe. First deer Iv ever taken with buckshot. I used a 3'' 000 buck load to take her with. She was only about 10 yards from my stand when I shot her. Dropped her right in her tracks.

This was my last one for this year. I was hunting over a field when I took this one. There are two stands set up on either side of the field, about 400 yards apart. I saw about 10 does that night, all over at the opposite stand I was in. I had knocked my scope out of whack about two weeks earlier, and didnt feel comfortable with a shot that far, so I thought I would go home that night empty handed. Right as it was about to be too dark for me to see well, I spotted this doe eating by herself at 100 yards. Needless to say, I put it on her with a very clean .30-06 kill, and she dropped were she stood.

You did better than I did. I saw a ton of turkey during deer archery season but in all the times I went out I saw a grand total of 1 deer, a little 6 point buck. It didn't help that I started late because I wasn't sure I'd even get to go with my son being due this winter and then it got cut short when he came 3 weeks early but still doesn't usually take that much work to get a doe or two at least. Hoping the herd around here hasn't been effected by one of the deer illnesses that seem to be doing a number in some areas.

I shot about a 100" 8pt opening day of pa's archery season at the last min of legal light. 18 yards, I double lunged him. He ran into weeds about chest high. As I was taking the stand down it started pouring rain. Walked past the buck for hours on end and couldnt see him. Found him 60 yards from the stand opening day of gun season, with no blood and the tall weeds I never saw him.

I shot this one on 9-18-13. He came in at 7:00pm and presented a perfect 12 yd, quartering away, shot. My nerves got the best of me and I hit him a little further back than I wanted, but I got lucky and clipped the back of one lung. He went approximately 150 yds and crashed. He scored just under 120" and is in close running for my best archery buck to date.

I had one good day of hunting in 2013. We limited out on ducks in a hour and a half. Would have been less than that if my buddies gun hadn't kept malfunctioning and only allowing him to get off one shot. We got done early enough to go switch out our hunting stuff for fishing gear and catch a bunch of fish that day too!

Nice critters. A buddy of mine trapped two coons this past winter for the first time. It was exciting going to check the traps everyday.
