Uncle Josh Meat

Anybody using it. http://www.unclejosh.com/C/MEAT/208 Saw an episode of Joe Bucher today and he was smallie fishing with the Meat leech. Looking for reviews on any of the baits in the Meat line. Looks to be as durable as the old school pork trailers.

Thanks

I used it a few times season before last.  Not impressed.

Though not as durable as the original stuff, it's still tougher than plastic.

However, it doesn't stay on the hook very well.  This turned out to be my biggest problem with it.

Most literature covering it does not mention it, but the product comes with (an requires) the use of a small rubber O-ring type of do-hickey to keep it on the hook.  It is is both in-effective and a huge PIA.

Also, I don't like having to take it on and off (especially as a trailer) and re-package it after each use throught the day.  Otherwise, like gulp, it will dry up.

My assessment - pass.

I like it, not as durable as the old pork..but way less of a pain. You have to use the rubber keeper though.

What makes pork rind effective is the fat content makes bouyant and soft with a tough skin that holds it on the hook. The new Meat does non of the above.

^ exactly. I really dislike the meat

Lol, I must be using a different Uncle Josh meat. It is very buoyant, it's all fat.

I used to like it as well..used it for Pike.Bought some of the modern stuff on a whim and was not impressed.Nothing like the old school pork baits.

I use the Meat Minnow and the meat beaver with a jig. Floats well and last forever. Catch multiple fish with just one and when done stick it back in package.

Biodegradable

I try not to use plastic as it is bad for environment.

I have the vintage jars of it can't find anyone to buy them so I'm thinking about using them

I haven't even encountered the Uncle Josh Meat trailers, but in reading the description they have on their web page, it seems to be similar to what Super-Pork has had out there for years. I use the Super-Pork most of the time when I am jigging, and use the same brand in strips with spinnerbaits on a trailer hook.
