Looking to get another set of quality glasses. Probably costa del mar's, maybe oakley's. Anyway, wanting to know what would be the better lens choice for fishing.(sight fishing). Thinking in the oakley's about the shallow blue? Costa's would be the 580 lens(glass or new poly?) what is the better choice?

I own a pair of both brands. I was really un happy with the Oakleys. That said the tint is really gonna depend on the lighting outside at the time. I purchased a pair of Costa's for my all around glass's. I but the Eye Surrenders(better then Oakley IMHO), is several colors for sight fishing and low light conditions. There can be claims for Amber, Smoke and blue mirror. Id suggest getting another tint that you dont already have.

In general terms, match tint to water color.  I have three pairs of sunglasses, yellow for low light, amber no mirror for muddy, dark water, and blue/blue mirror big clear water.

I just got a pair of coastas with green mirror(glass lens)  best pair of glasses I've ever owned.  4th pair of coastas.

I am a big fan of amber lens for sight fishing.  Buy the best you can afford.

polycarbonate are much lighter than glass. As far as tint goes, amber is better on cloudy days. Gray is better on sunny days. I've never had blue mirror lenses but I think they are the sharpest of all lenses. Take a look at Maui Jim's. They make  top notch sunglasses. They also put an anti reflective coating on the inside of their lenses. This keeps the reflection of the sun down when it is behind you. It really helps during dusk when the sun is low and to your back. My prescription glasses have it.

I own 2 pairs of Costas and have fished with several pairs.  I have 580 copper glass and 580 silver glass.  These are the 2 best to me as far as seeing down into the water goes.  I've fished in a pair of blue mirror as well.  The mirrored tints block the sun better but do not give you the clarity into the water that the other 2 I mentioned give.  All the 580 lenses are great it's really just preference but to me I can  sacrifice it being a little brighter to be able to see deeper.  It doesn't help me catch fish I just enjoy it more.  Again it's all personal preference. I think you'll be happy with any of there lenses.

The polycarbonate lens is much lighter but when I tried them on it seemed like the clarity didn't compare to the glass lenses.  But if your happy with them they definitely won't break as easy.  I've broken one pair twice.  Both times were my fault but I doubt a plastic or polycarbonate lens would have broke.

This is a question that pops up all the time and everyone is split up like everything else. I do have the shallow blue lenses from Oakley and love them but I have other lenses too for diff. light conditions. You are going to have to try them for yourself.

I'm a fan of the Smith line, a recent convert from Costa.  Smith has a photochromic copper that's one of the best lenses I've fished for most light conditions.  It does well in low light, all the way to bluebird days and clear water.
