7" Yamasenko

Featured Replies

I was investigating a pack of these last night.  I like throwing big baits but wow. These things are huge, anyone throw them with good success?

Yep.  I used them almost exclusively for night fishing a few years ago.

I fished them for about two years, but found them to be no more effective than 6" Senkos for big bass.

The main reason I quit using them was because the are simmply too heavy to cast on my preferred soft plastic equipment (MF spinning tackle).

BTW, If you decide to stick with them, I recommend Gamakatsu 5/0 Offset Round Bend Worm Hooks. I use this hook occasionally when fishing 6" Senkos, too. They are stout, very stout.

These baits have been one of my "secrets" for muskie. I use a big Gammy superline EWG hook and a tygerwire leader. Never caught a bass on one.

Cheers,
