Ive yet to use a swimbait so nothing to contribute other than to say thats a very nice fish you caught.

I got into the swimbait stuff for a few months, this was my biggest at 9-11. Stopped for a few weeks, and caught 2 over 10lbs on regular baits, and haven't tossed swimbaits much at all since.

im not too far from tuckman, only a couple hours, im right on oneida and man do we have smallies and lots of good largies

I have never caught a fish on a swimbait.  Going to try and learn them this year.

I fish in WI. Only thing i'm gonna get on a big swimbait is a pike or musky. I catch plenty of pike as is, and i just don't have the proper equipment to be throwing heavy lures and catching fish like musky. No reason for me to throw such a large bait.

Huh...I fish in NY. I don't have proper equipment to throw large swimbaits either. So I throw small- medium swimbaits, and destroy bass on them.

I wouldn't worry too much about filling your boat with Musky.

Then you're fishing the wrong places.  Pretty much the only time I lose baits to pike is bass post spawn, when there is a great amount of overlap in fish location, but the pike are more active. Mostly its deep cranks, and jigs, not swimbaits that are lost.

Maybe.... I'm still much more likely to catch toothy fish on them. The number of large pike in the "bass" areas are still greater than the number of unusually large bass that'll bite a large, expensive swimbait. Lots of stress on the expensive part. I don't make enough money to go searching for huge LMB with swimbaits.

I'm sure i'd do a lot better with a smaller swimbait. I may try that.

Edit: And BTW, the lakes i fish are a lot smaller than the lakes in your area. There's a lot of overlap in fish location when the max depth is less than 20ft. One of the lakes has a max depth of something like 10ft. Dodge County, WI.

Back peddling for sure. This kind of lying just rubs me the wrong way (nice way of saying ticks me off) The man in the picture, that you said was you, is a good friend of mine. I know fishermen tend to stretch the truth but come on man! How dumb do you think we are?
