Shimano Crucial

Featured Replies

I own the crucial drop shot rod and really like the sensitivity, so I'm thinking about buying the 7' worm one for my all around soft plastic rod in a medium power fast action anyone own this rod and have any input on it, the drop shot model is a bit flimsy at the tip which is great for drop shotting but I think i need something just a bit more stiff for my soft plastics like senkos, flukes, t-rigged worms

I used Crucials exclusively last year. If it were ME, I would opt for the MH for an all purpose worm rod.

so in your year did you have any issues with the rods maybe should i look at different options?

I had one break, but I am not real sure what happened. I had a spinner bait hung up on a stump and I was leaned over the boat trying to get it unhung. I had the rod in my left hand and thought I had let out enough line. I think maybe the line got wrapped around a guide and it snapped. Other than that, I was very happy with them.

Yes, BPS exchanged it. I didn't have my receipt, so I advise that you keep yours.

great rod, light and sensitive and over the counter replacement. I have a dozen or so and you will be happy with it. I have broken a couple (my fault) and no problem with replacement.

DevilDog17, the Crucial is a great rod, been using them for years. I think the issue is with lure weight you plan to use. An all purpose rod that throws weightless worms and 3/4oz plus t-rig does not exist. I have 4 Crucial worm rods that run from ML, M, MH, and H. ML for throwing light jigs for saltwater , M for weightless flukes ,MH for 1/2 to 3/4 oz t-rig and H for punching 1 oz. or heavier craws. What type of fishing you do the most will determine which rod you need. I love my M, I fish mostly wtless flukes and 1/4 oz or < t-rig , it does great for me. Rods are tools to do a job , you would not use a ball peen hammer to do finish work on cabinets. Or use a small detail hammer to knock out a wall. Can not go wrong with shimano with its quality and over the counter warranty.

I have both myself. Love the 6'8" mxf for the drop shot, that's all its used for. Real soft tip but handles well when hooking onto some. Crucial mh 7' is used with weightless worm, t-rigging, flukes and spinnerbaits at times. Good purpose rod. I'd get it if you asked me. If you liked the other Crucial this one shouldn't be bad either.

ok thanks i think what it will come down to is whether to get the mh or m power rod I would like it to be an all around rod for my soft plastics. I throw flukes, weightless worms, and also lighter bullet weights on my t-rigs because I'm a bank beater and I'm not fishing very deep water
