Weird Catch on a Fat Ika?

Featured Replies

I have caught a lot of fish on the Fat Ika: catfish, bass, crappie, walleye, warmouths, small mouth bass, and a few hybrids.  But a few days ago I caught a 4 foot water moccasin.  I have caught snakes in the past but only on live bait.  I was reeling in slow when I saw the snake turn and go straight for the bait.  It looked like it acted out instict.

What could this snake have been thinking?  Has anybody else caught snakes on soft plastic?

Hmmm . . . catch and release I presume?  I'll bet you had fun removing the hook.  Or did you?   :)

It was more like> catch, say "Oh, @#$%, and cut the line.  So now the snake will have something to remember me by. :)

My wife and I have both caught snakes on soft plastics. I got a 4' diamondback water snake on a 5" senko. She got a 5' copperhead on a 4" senko. The copperhead was a bit more exciting.

Cheers,

For got to add this. If you run into snakes a lot while out fishing, you gotta get one of these.

They work extremely well.

Ghoti, just wanted to thank you for posting that link. That thing is freakin awesome. I just might have to get one for a weapons collector I know.

it almost resembles a tube, but that its not hollow and has the same body as a senko just fat :)
