Super Shad Rap

Featured Replies

I was thinking about getting a Rapala Super Shad Rap, and was just wondering if anyone here has used them for bass with any success?

Dang ! another person discovering the SSR.....

My friend, lures are meant to catch predatory fish, not a specific type, as long as it´s predatory, not only have I fished with the SSR, I´ve fished for bass with Magnums & Slivers, it´s amazing to see how small bass can bite a lure as big and sometimes bigger than themselves.

SSR along a 45 degree rocky bank is awesome in cold water

Maybe if you have a healthy population of big bass in lakes around you, i use it for pike and musky. Using it last summer over a weedbed looking for a big muskie and i got a 2lb largemouth. It should work. :)

I know a guy who fish it in Canada and had a monster smallie slap at it

I never caught a bass on one but I got this nice pike on it.

I've fished them quite a bit for muskie and never caught a bass on one. Better big bait options for bass out there IMO.

In Lake of the Woods Canada there are days when the smallies prefer a larger bait.  On some days super shad raps and 1.5 oz rattle traps are about all they'll hit.  You might get a few "bumps" before actually hooking a fish but a bump is better than nothing at all.

We used them a few times in big cypress and caught some good bass on them but if you weren't vigilant the gators ate them. Clients always loved to see gators eat my lures.

I use them for Strpe and Musky.  Haven't caught a bass on one.  I've caught a few good bass on the similar sized/colored gliding rap, though.
