Do You Shakeyhead On Spinning Or Bc

I fish shaky heads probably 80% of the time on spinning, 20% on casting

Wacky rigging and drop shotting 50/50 casting/spinning..........IDK why, just because.

Both for me. Mostly im throwing 1/8-3/16 and i use a Lews TP with10# InvizX. Anything lighter than 1/8 i use my dropshot spinning setup which has 10#braid and 8# leader.

I throw a spinning during the day, but at night I like my baitcaster...  I dont know what it is about the spinning but theres no consistency to my cast- the bait goes where it wants to.  I can, with pinpoint accuracy, hit where I want it with my BC... and I've only been using a BC now for a couple years, but have been using the spinning reel for decades now...  :Idontknow:

Bait Casting 100% ;)

I drop and shakey almost exclusively on spinning using lighter line, would love to try with a baitcaster setup if someone has found a good lighter line & weight setup

I use an 1/8oz skipgap jigheaad with a Zman or 3X worm most of the time. I go heavier occasionally. I use a baitcast combo. If I go down to 1/16oz I'll switch to spinning gear. I'll also use spinning gear when in deep water.

I tried shakey heading with a baitcaster but it felt strange so I went back with the spinning.

same here, I've always done it on spinning gear tried it on a baitercaster, well it didn't feel like I was fishing everything felt off. I tore it off put on a shallow crankbait now for me it's done on spinning gear

  • Use an extra fast rod. Lost 6 fish today using an ewg shakey head  with a fast action rod. Regular straight shank hooks arent a problem with a fast action rod but the EWG just dont set correctly without an extra fast.

Always a spinning rod. I feel like the under the rod guides work better with the action imparted during shakey head fishing. And the straight up over the shoulder hook set required to get a good hook in them with a shakey head balances better with a spinning setup.
