What's The Scoop With Denali Rods?

Featured Replies

Out of all the somewhat off the norm brand sticks I seem to eyeball these the most. So, how are they? What are the powers like compared to the norm? Soft? How is the balance? What's the build quality like? Are these made in the U.S? I'm looking for a spinning rod to throw jerkbaits with. I usually use a casting set up, but kinda miss owning a spinning outfit. I've been looking at the 6'8 med Murphey moderate stick. Anyone own this in the spinning or casting version? Thanks

The Mike Murphy rods in Denali's lineup seem too soft for my liking, I've seen the videos and those rods have serious flex. As for everything else, they seem decent and have a good following, I know 2 guys who really like them, in fact a friend told me to get a Jadewood cranking rod when I was looking and if I didn't like it he said he would buy it from me, not to shabby of an offer but I didn't do it.

I have the Muphy signature in the casting version, it's a great stick .I throw everything from vision 110's to pointer 78's with it . I also use it for yellow magics and small squarebills like the 1.5's

Lol @Glenn.

I'm not a Denali prostaffer, but over the winter I got both of the Denali Kovert crankbait rods and the spinnerbait rod.

Quality is very good and actions and power are consistent with most rods I've used in the past. Compared to my Veritas rods, the build quality is better and, of course, the Veritas rods are much stiffer and heavier.

I used them today for the first time and was very happy with their performance. Casting distance was excellent (all are paired with Pro Qualifiers).

The tackleshop employee I bought the Crankbait rods from told me they were made in America, but one the rods had a "Made in China" sticker on the butt of the handle.

One more significant plus: the Koverts are doggone good looking rods.

I had 4 Denalis and sold them all but 1.

Jadewood 7'6 XH 'heavy and very tip heavy. The guides are huge'

Kovert 7'2 H 'was ok feeling but balance wasn't great and fairly tip heavy'

Rosewood 7' mh 'was alright but same complaint as the Kovert. Definitely not a $200 rod'

Jadewood 7' m/m 'very light and well balanced'

The only one I kept and put in rotation.

I've heard the Rosewoods and Jadewoods feel somewhat dead compared to other rods in the same price range more than a few times. Think I'm gonna pass. Thanks D -
