Daiwa Tatula And Pflueger Patriarch

Featured Replies

Threw the Tatula again today and it was much better than last time out. No bites but was definitely smoother and I'm starting to really like this set up.

Threw crank baits on my pflueger patriarch and this is one awesome smooth reel.

I enjoy throwing my Tatula aswell although I do have a somewhat love hate relationship with it.

The Tatula requires a little more break until you get used to less line friction through the level wind T wing. When you get the reel dialed into lure weights or wind resistant lures you should be able to cast longer distance with less effort using the Tatula. I have not tuned my new Tatula's and they cast very well out of the box. Like any new reel you should check it out for quite bearings and smooth operation.

Not familiar with the Patriarch reel.

Love would be the effortless pitching for sure and you can certainly notice the "air rotation" this reel is buttery smooth out of the box and the line just flows effortless in casting. I mainly am going to be using this reel this year for big jigs and froggin. I shouldn't have used the word "hate" however the size is somewhat cumbersome especially for someone who owns high end shimano metanium's, excense dc reels, steez, etc I mean don't get me wrong it's a great reel and it has some great features it's just a tad on the big side and I have pretty large hands and it's a little cumbersome at times.

I was fishing today with a friend at his property. I made a cast a few seconds after he did. I was throwing a keitech 4.8 with 1/8 swimbait hook using my tatula. He said "did you just cast that far or did your lure come off" Granted he is new to casting gear but I got a chuckle out of it.

Don't you just love those casts when the lure goes zinging off the line a country mile and all you can do is wonder why you didn't tie a better knot as you see that 5 to 8 dollar lure fly away

I love my Tat it is smoother than my Revo SX and I can cast it farther.

I just ordered a phlueger pat. I think it's a 7:9 ratio I hope it's good

pflugs all the way
