Featured Replies

Hey guys im looking at the powell endurance seris for my new big worm rod and jig rod. What rod would you use for these techniques?

How big? What weights and depths?

714 boss

It all depends on weight of what you're throwing but my votes would be a 723,714 or 764.

Jig size would be 3/8 to 1/2oz jigs, the worm size would 10in and up. I would fishing off the bank and would be fishing anywhere from 1ft to however far I can cast(sorry I know that doesn't help any)

i would go 723. you'll love it, has a nice tip so you can fling those baits way out there

Yup a 723 would be great. Plus it's a very versatile rod.

A third vote for the 723. It's an awesome stick. If you want a little more power the 714 is also a great option.

While I don't own any Endurance rods I do own 5 Max series and in my opinion I think you'll want more power than a 3 power Powell rod has. I'd definitely move up to a 4 power for your intended purposes, the 714 sounds like it would be my choice.

The 714 sounds like a sweet rod

The 714 to me is a bit stiff for a 3/8 jig. I just recently got a 714 and it just doesn't load as well as the 723 even with 1/4oz rating. I threw 3/8-1/2oz swim jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, ect all last year without any issue. I own 2 of these rods just because they're so multi purpose. The powell max 703 I have isn't as powerful as my 723. That's my experience anyhow.

I would go with the 723

You are right it doesn't load like the 723 for 3/8, but I haven't had any trouble with mine. But if you plan on throwing a 1/2 most of tims, its the right stick

I own a 723 and two 714's.  I throw jigs 3/8-3/4oz on the 714.  The 723 is for finesse jigs and small trigs for me.

I love my 723...It's great all around around rod!  I use mine mostly for docks though, skips a jig real nice!
