Jerkbait Line

Featured Replies

What line do you guys normally throwing when using jerkbaits and or poppers? I was looking at maybe getting a new setup, Cashion Topwater and Jerkbait rod with a Shimano Curado I or Lew's BB1 Pro, and I'm not sure about line yet. What do you guys think? Thanks

Mono for jerkbaits, specifically #12 Sunline Super Natural

20lb braid for both. Tied direct to the bait for topwater, and with a fluoro leader (usually 10lb, but sometimes 8, and sometimes 12 or 15lb test) for jerkbaits.

12lb Seaguar Invizx for jerkbaits and 10-12lb mono for topwater

Mono, I use 10# sufix elite or seige. But I hear sunline is the bee knees and might pick some up in the near future. TW has it usually for very good prices.

Since you are looking to pull double duty with the setup I would be learning towards mono&braid fluoro will not perform well when using topwater, a big factor of what line you choose will come down to the rod your using, there are lots of guys out there using braid but are using them on softer crankbait specific rods to deal with the lack of stretch. Both have their benefits I fished #12 supernatural last season on a 704cb this year Ill be using the 684cb #20 PPSS tied to a leader.

PE line... but always with a leader of nylon or fluoro mono to lessen the amount of times the bait will walk over the line.

oe

I use 12# invisx for jerks and 30# PP braid for topwater

If i were to do a double duty deal id go with 20# braid...

12lb invizx or 10lb. If the bait is really slow and clear water 8lb invizx.  BB1 pro is a great reel.

10 lb. Trilene Big Game on my baitcasters, 8 lb. Yo-Zuri Hybrid on my spinning rigs.
