Cumara For A Chatter Bait Rod?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

New to Bass fishing and to the the forum (glad I found it) and just building up my gear.  looking for a Chatter bait rod and in the local CL there is a Cumara 7'2" MHXfast for sale for $180.00  Would the rod make a good choice?

thanks,

Although I prefer a fast action over the XF, that is a great choice. Anything you'd throw spinnerbaits on is fine for bladed jig baits. Nice rods, too, you'll love it.

It would be fine for what you are looking to use it for.  I also will say the Cumara is an awesome.

Agree

That rod would be an excellent choice for bottom contact also

those Cumara's are plenty sensitive for that also

Oh yeah definitely, awesome sensitivity.  Main technique I use mine for.

darn, the guy just got back to me and the Rod is sold.  He said he has a CUCX68MA  6'8" M-XFast he would sell, how about that for Chatter bait rod?

And thanks for all the responses...

The rod I use to fish my bladed jigs is a LTB 6' 6" MH/XF and it does great. I'm sure that Cumara would be no different.

Cumara A's are nice rods for just about anything. That 6'8" MXF is marketed as a light jig rod and it should handle 3/8 oz chatterbaits very well. It may be under powered for a 1/2 oz chatter.

What does the seller want price wise? The 6'8" ones can be had for less than the 7'2"s.

I think the gen 1 CUC xf reaction rods make better blade sticks. That's what they were intended for. The rod you're looking at is one if the extra fast sticks intended for bottom contact

well I'm pretty jazzed... I ended up buying the CUCX68MA 6'8" M-XFast and a 6'10" MH-XFast from the guy for less than the price of one rod.  One had never been used and the other was, but had no signs of it.  Thanks for all the responses.
