  1. about two weeks old the only thing I've done to the boat in the last couple of months is add a trim blinker switch
  2. I unplugged my boat and the cranking battery drained in a couple of days. The power switch at the console is off and I did a drain test by taking out each fuse but that all checked out. I thought I read somewhere that a bad alternator might do that when it sits, but I can't find the article, so not sure if I remember that correctly. Any suggestions? And thanks in advance...
  3. Thanks, I followed your suggestion; one is pending
  4. Can anyone tell me why I don't have the Down Imaging screen on my finder. Everything else is there, 2d sonar, GPS etc. but no option to view DI. I have the correct transducer installed; the graph is up front, with the transducer on the trolling motor
  5. I have a 2014 Nitro and will be changing my graphs; one will be a side scan. where would be the best spot to put the transducer?
  6. I have three batteries, but my cranking is still good, so I'll wait on that one.
  7. yes, sorry I meant Optima (blue tops)
  8. I currently use two interstate 29 batteries for my trolling motors but one has died. I have an opportunity to get two Optima R34m's for basically the price of one. I do fish a lot of tournaments and was wondering if the two AGM's are comparable to my 29's and will my Dual Pro 15 Amp/Bank Professional Series 3 Bank Charger be OK in charging them.
  9. Deciding between something in the M-1 line or an X10 or X11 for my square bill rod. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm only interested in Phenix comparisons please. thanks
  10. My Guest charger lost one of it's banks after 2 years, so I'm in the market for a new one. It was only a two bank charger, which is what the Nitro came with, so I will be moving up to a 3 bank unit now. I am looking at the Dual Pro Professional or Sportsman, so my question would be for anyone that has either to give me their thoughts. I'm not sure if the Professional is worth the extra $100.00, but still undecided. I'm not totally against the Minn Kota, so thoughts on that would be welcome as well. thanks, in advance
  11. I reset the finder and then selected the transducer and everything works now.
  12. I think 450 and 800 but I'll have to check later to be sure
  13. I bought a used boat that has two Elite 7 Chirps. Under frequency choices I should have High and Low Chirp choice but I don't. Does anyone know why? Thanks,
  14. used the Ardent last weekend and it performed very well, so I'll save the money right now.
  15. any of my spinning set-up's that had full Flouro were re-spooled with 20# braid. My finesse rods very from 7 to 10# Sniper flouro Leaders.
  16. LMBO.... No, he's caged for now, but we'll see after my pre-fish this Saturday lol
  17. Going through my rods and I forgot I had a new Ardent Denny Brauer Frog/Buzzbait 7'4", Medium-Heavy Fast, so I guess I'll give that a try before I spend any money.
  18. Great responses, thanks to all of you.
  19. Snapped my JR Custom Frog rod and need to get one before my next tournament in two weeks (10/1). If i could get a suggestion on one that is reasonably priced. I would buy another JR but I can't afford that right now. I'm sure it's way beyond it's warranty. Don't know what happened, but it snapped about a foot from the tip on the hook set. Using braid, so I still got the fish in, but that was an expensive catch
  20. I do both...I run the hook under the shrink tube and also pierce the tubing for that presentation. I even used some shrink tube on a Roboworm for my drop shot and it helped saving the worm when I nose hooked it.
  21. I made a video on how I use shrink tube
  22. not sure about the Etecs, but after finding out about the warranty void with the Merc, I read the heck out of post on the web and did come across other topics regarding hull warranties and some insurance companies refusing to pay on claims because of the improper spacers between the motors, but didn't pay much attentions since the didn't match my issue. What I thought was funny is the Talon came off a one year old Ranger and the dealer never told him his warranty would be voided with the S/W plate and he has an extended warranty on his Merc. In any case, I had three choices: wait a year until my motor warranty was over; put on the sandwich plate and take a chance, or get a Jack Plate. The decision was easy when he had that Jack Plate laying around and sold it to me. Now, if I decide to get another Talon, I won't have to pay for my motor to be removed again, and just mount it on the other side of the JP.
  23. The guy I bought the Talon from also had a CMC ML-65 jack plate that he sold me for $50.00 so if the jackplate brackets work with that, I'll just have the JP installed and mount the talon myself. Since the talon came with the sand which brackets , I'll just have to buy the JP one. I guess I can then sell the S/W bracket and spacer on Craigslist. I think this is the one:
  24. LOL, No jackplate, so a sandwich plate is the way I have to go. I got a quote of between $250.00 to $350.00 to install ouch
  25. I bought a used 2014 Nitro and wasn't planning on adding a jackplate. I guess i'll have to wait until next July when the warranty is up to install the Talon or just re-sell it. I got a year old complete set up for $1550.00 so, I should be able to turn that around if I go that route.
