Anyone hear of Valley Hill Rods
Just wondering if anyone has ever heard or used Valley Hill Black Scale rods. One is for sale on CL, not really needing the rod but it comes with a Shimano Canean reel which I want.

Southern California Vacation Hawgs
Nice fish! Just started bass fishing; going my second year in So CA and haven't made it to those lakes. I'll have to look them up. Great job

Seat Faded-Help
My back seat use to be gray but has faded/morphed to a light greenish color. Does anyone know if that can be scrubbed back to gray, or any cleaner or chemical that would help?

Lefty Or Righty?
Kind of wondering how may people have both righty and lefty reels in there arsenal. I use both, but looking at others gear, there usually seems to be one or the other but not both. Is there an advantage or does it even matter?

Upgrade Motor?
Thanks for all the great advice, and definitely some things to think over.

Upgrade Motor?
Haven't talked to Anglers yet, but that's where I would go when I decide which way I want to go. One of my buddies is a mechanic there and I buy most of my tackle there as well. The one thing about buying a boat from them would be the opportunity to fish their tournaments.

Upgrade Motor?
Right now, there are only two, but you are right about it being harder to sell. We have a lot more ocean boats being on the coast, so it would pair up with someone that wants to upgrade their skiff or bayrunner.

Upgrade Motor?
Yeah, the 60 works great

Upgrade Motor?
I have a 2004 triton Aluminum 176 Sport with a 60 Mercury. I bought the boat used in AZ so it is not compliant with two lakes by me here in CA. The motor runs well, but I was thinking of moving up to a 90 HP (i believe its rated up to 115) for both power and compliance. I use my boat for my local club and although a 90 HP and general dynamics of the boat won't keep up with all the other guys, I figured it would help me get from point to point a little faster. During the draw, I always say just let me go last, so I don't get buzzed on the way out lol I paid 7 K for the boat about a 1 1/2 years ago and it seems to fit my needs, and although I thought of all the downsides posted about tin boats, mine has been OK so far. I upgraded the TM to a 24 volt and upgraded the scanners; and with the power pole it a nice little package. I guess I'm just wondering by the time I upgrade the motor (figure between 8-10K) is it better to just get another boat. If I got another boat it would have to be used, the boss will not let me fork down 30K being so close to retirement, so with a used, you never know how someone took care of the motor. Thoughts?

Tragic Kayak Fishing Story - Reminder
Everybody asks why I always wear my vest in my boat, I always tell them that if you have a comfortable vest you won't even know its on and that came from my Kayak days. I was an open ocean kayak fisherman and I always thought it funny that guys would tie their vest at the back of the yak. I came so close to getting dunked by boats or swells that I didn't want to go looking for my vest or swim after my yak to get to it. We also have heard stories of boating accidents due to inattention, alcohol or just plain stupidity, so I wear my vest always. And, it's old school, I don't want to hope that water will activate something if I'm unconscious.

Powerpole Customer Service #1
had issues with my power pole controls working so I sent a message to their support crew and to say they have great customer service would be a disservice to them. I received a response the very next morning with a test to try, informing me to let them know how it went. As soon as I performed the test and got back to them, they responded with the problem and are sending me out a new part. I know that I read some post giving them kudos but I can tell you that it's been a long time since I've had a company respond so quickly and back their product, that I had to give them their due. Everyone always asks me how I like my Power Pole and I will repay this service with more than a simple I like it for now on.

First Bass Boat
After just completing my first year in my Bass club I decided I wanted to get a practice boat. My plan was to back seat for a few years to learn from all the experience we have but wanting to practice in-between tournaments I settled on getting a used aluminum. All the guys in the club told me I would get tired of an aluminum and I probably will, but I really wanted something that I could learn and bang up while not breaking the bank doing it. I've looked at several and decided on a 2004 Triton 176 sport. I live in S Ca where two of our lakes have air quality restrictions, so I won't be able to go to those, but there are still a lot more to fish and when I'm ready to move up in a couple of years to bigger boat, those lakes will be back in the loop. Besides, if we fish there in our club tournament, I'll be back seating anyway. I finished with big fish of the year for our club and after fishing the Sierras and open ocean Kayak, Bass fishing has me hooked. I appreciate this site and have read many helpful posts, so thanks to all

Help With The Delta
Did really well, and I caught the biggest fish of the year for the club with only one tourney to go. Caught countless shorties but I limited the first day and took thee the second day. I caught a 6.4 on pre fish tossing a frog but the ticket for the trip was throwing Senkos wacky.

Lake Hodges-San Diego Ca Help
Have a club tournament at Lake Hodges this weekend and looking for some local expertise. Pre-fished this past weekend and boy was it tough. There is a lot of bait fish, so I'm wondering if the bass just don't need anything else right now. In any case, if there is anyone out there that knows the lake, any advice would be appreciated.

Bass Training And First Tournement
Just search for Bass clubs on line in your local area. I'm in Southern Ca and just took up Bass fishing this year. I went to two local clubs before deciding which one to join and I can tell you that I learn something at each meeting and each tournament. Joining a club is the best advice because watching all the you tube videos doesn't match up to seeing it up close and personal.

Cumara For A Chatter Bait Rod?
well I'm pretty jazzed... I ended up buying the CUCX68MA 6'8" M-XFast and a 6'10" MH-XFast from the guy for less than the price of one rod. One had never been used and the other was, but had no signs of it. Thanks for all the responses.

My Wife Thinks I Need Help!
Hello, I am a long time fisherman, mainly trout and open ocean Kayak out of Southern CA. I got the Bass bug about 4 months ago and needless to say, I am hooked. I joined a local Bass Club and the members couldn't be nicer and also great about passing tips along the way. I don't have a boat (yet) but have participated in 3 club tournaments as a back seater and can tell you, I have a lot to learn. I'm glad I found this site and look forward to grabbing as much info as I can.
