Featured Replies

Since no motor boats are aloud on honeyoye and canandaugua lake all weekend due to high waters, I will be taking full advantage of the canoe :)

I fished the annual opening day 3 fish limit tournament on Silver today. I did OK....or should I say my partner did OK. You fish as individuals, but since we used his boat, he has terminal cancer, and

I went to Conesus this afternoon from 1pm to about 5pm, with the intention of "looking" at smallmouth since we had clear skies and calm winds...perfect for bed fishing........FOILED..... Muddy water and green slime mess. Couldn't get much going for size, but caught numbers, 20 or so small keepers of both green and brown up to about 2.5 lbs, fishing shaky heads, drop shot, and flick shakes around docks. I got off the bank and docks several times during the day fishing, both the inside and outside grass lines, and or some steep drops looking for better size, but it just wasn't happening, so I went to back to the bank/docks, hoping to eventually run into some better fish....never happened. I was due for a poor outing on Conesus, my last 6-8 trips there have been barn burners.....I realize 20 keeper bass in  4 hours is not "poor".............but I have high standards LOL.

I went out for 2 hrs today with my little brother on the canal. Caught a bunch of small small mouth and rock bass. Then had a 3' pike absolutely destroy my chatterbait. I ended us killing the poor thing on accident because It took me too long to get the bait out of its mouth. of course the day I leave my pliers in the car I catch a pike.

Fished in the ADKs over the weekend. Weather was miserable. Thunderstorms and torrential rain all weekend. We still managed to find some fish though. In 10-12 hours of fishing we boated around 25 keeper-sized bass, the biggest being around 3 pounds. Lost a few that looked bigger. Not bad at all considering the horrible weather.

Since that thunderstorm just missed my area today I decided to go out for a few hours, and boy was it rough. Only 7 small fish probably only 1-2 pounds...

On the bank of the Upper Niagara this morning, quiet a few smallies all average size and a surprise largemouth in the river.  First largemouth in the river this year, but I've been nailing them in the canal off the main river.

I fished for 2 or so hours each of the last two nights, one pre-cold front in 80 degree air temps, one post cold front in 50 degree temps with a stiff north wind.........guess which one was better LOL........last night. A dozen keepers in 2.5 hours, with one over four lbs, half a dozen over three lbs, and the rest all solid 2.5's or so.............Tonight, also out for 2.5 hours or so,  numbers went down...only caught 4, but all of them were over 4lbs.

It sounds like you guys are really spanking them around WNY- I, personally have not had much luck- any friendly suggestions as for new locations to try? Nothing but perch in Bear Creek. Any one have any luck in braddocks bay or Irondequoit bay or the ponds?

TIA from a newbie!

Lake Alice wasn't bad this morning and that's about 30-45 minutes from you. Bass are sitting on beds I picked off a few then had a PB northern on got it all the way in after he made a few runs stripping drag off my reel like nothing. Got it to the bank and went to get him and he flopped under a log back into the water made another run and broke my line with my last spinnerbait.

Went out today and had good luck frog fishing and pitching a creature bait,  also a wacky rigged senko on weedless style hook. got these guys over the past couple days.

Just got back from 1.5 hours of bank fishing. I caught 2 good ones, but between snags and pike bite-offs, I lost about 75$ worth of jigs, shakeyheads, tungsten bullets and jerkbaits. Not to mention it was windy as all hell. My patience was tested today.

I couldn't imagine losing that much stuff. I get disappointed if I loose a simply T-rig let alone nice jigs or tungsten wieghts.

75$ might be a slight exaggeration. Still a very frustrating day. I lost so much stuff I can't even remember what i need to replace.

Anyone willing to go out fishing this Wednesday? I'll be out in the Canandaigua lagoon or banking it at honeoye.

My local spot has been getting super pressured.. since the fish are either on beds are guarding fry everyone that fishes from the bank are catching the same fish a thousand times making all the fish skiddish, luckily my TW order came in yesterday. So I tried my new drop shot stuff out. I caught more fish today than I did Friday Saturday and Sunday combined in an hour and a half!! Shout out to WW2farmer for teaching me how to drop shot!
