Has anyone had any trouble with the abrasion resistance on this line was using it this weekend in a tournament an I broke my line couple of times on the hook set I was fishing around cypress trees an was re tieing often I like the line but just wanted to see if anyone had experience with this line an it's abrasion resistance

I used it a couple years ago. I had a terrible problem /w the abrasion resistance in 12 and 17# test.  Not as bad as say Red Label but still wasn't great on rocks and docks.  Aside from that though, I did like the line.

I tried it and didn't like it much. Have been using P-Line floro and the co-polymer. They have been a much better choice for me.

i haven't had any issue i use it both in higher and lower test than your 15#... there are better options out there like abrasx...

I have it in 17 pound also I use maybe I wasn't checking my line close enough

I use it a lot in #12 for a lot of my cranking needs. Never had a problem with it.

So you are using heavy line for drop shoting. Good knot so line size and strength aren't your problem.

I believe the problem may be the Tokar hooks razor sharp cutting edges touching your line and nicking it.

#4 hook is more than likely 4/0.

Your ? Was abrasion resistance and FC has a few weaknesses; impact strength, abrasion resistance, knot strength and yield strength are not as good as premium mono or copolymer line.

It is common to snap set into some slack line when flipping, that will weaken FC.

If the water is off colored, FC line really doesn't have any advantage other than it sinks, this isn't an issue with short line presentations like flipping.

That's true, but only to an extent. I haven't found anything tougher than my P-Line CXX and although I haven't tried it, I've heard that Yo-Zuri Hybrid is even tougher. The Yo-Zuri has some fluoro bonded with it, so Brandonss could give it a shot.

With Yozuri, cxx, big game, etc.; it's usually a question of line diameter-to-strength ratio. 15lb Yozuri is much thicker than most 15lb fluorocarbons. Using a mono and good fluoro, of like diameter, it's usually not even close. Sunline Shooter is the toughest I've found. I've fished rockpiles all day and it seems impossible to nick it.

I haven't had any problems fishing around rocks or docks or it's just I think the cypress trees is what I was having problems with around but I've heard pline cxx is some tough stuff though I haven't tried it yet just wondering if it be OK for bottom contact baits

Where did you find factual data to support that claim?

TT did a very good review on Berkley new 100% FC and graded it 7.4...good for FC.

Knot strength and impact go hand in hand, depending on how you hook set. If you use a snap set you are loading up the line very fast or impacting the line/ knot. When you pull at a constant force like 1lbs per second you load the line/ knot slower, this isn't an impact test.

Comparing Berkely XL mono vs XT mono will give you a wide variance in both impact and abrasion resistance, 100%FC is better than XL , not as good as XT for example. XL = extra limp! XT = extra tough..

TT uses XL for comparative results and XL has poor abrasion resistance, XT has very good abrasion resistance as does harder copolymers like Maxima, P-Line CXX, all very good where zebra/quagga mussels tend to cut FC and braids.

I don't know about hardness of the line, but the line's memory is awful.  #17 is like casting a tiny long sliky.

I haven't had any problems with the abrasion resistance at all.
