Ghetto Sweet Ghetto

I swear I would feel better if we were actually living in the ghetto. These stupid ghetto/bario apartments we are living in are getting to me. Don't get me wrong. The apartments are extremely nice, and expensive enough to keep the, for lack of a better word, "undesirables" out. However the constant flow of people from the next door apartments is getting old. We have kids dragging stuff out of the dumpsters, and either scattering it around the parking lot or toting home with them. Kids breaking glass and bottles in the common areas. Roving thuggish looking bands of teenagers. Which in their defense, they seem to be really nice and polite kids. I can't fault them for the way they dress. I remember being young too. Biggest issue is with the kids my 5 year d has made friends with. Bunch of free loading, whining, begging, brats. They bng on the door asking for drinks or snacks. Even though they have been told no. If they are let in. They ransack my sons room, then scatter like roaches when clean up time comes around. They are constantly fighting with each other and my son. You can't discuss the matter with the parents, cause they either don't speak English, or have an older child raising the younger ones while they work. Honestly, I've grown quite sick of it. The snivllers have been banned from the house as of now. So that takes care of that. Now to ban my son from playing with them. I should have done this months ago.

Rant Over.

Allow me to add. There are four children up there that he can play with. They are very well behaved, polite, occasionally mischievous, and have parents that seem to care about their upbringing.

Is this the place you just moved into?

Apartments in general suck. Never have seen a "good" complex. Too many people in too close of a proximity.

Hate it for you bro. That's why I love that I live in a neighborhood full of older people. All you can do is raise your children they way your supposed to and hold accountable the children that come over. If the kids that come over cant follow the Raider family rules, then they can't come around. You are handling this right. Just hang in there.

You got that right. Besides the nice complexes around here keep riff Raff like me out. I'll be damned if I shell out 1500 a month to rent an apartment.that's just for the two bedroom. The threes start at 1700 and go up from there.

Raider sounds like you would be better off in a neighbor hood. Police stand offs are once in a blue and actually bring the street together.

I would do best in a neighborhood. I just gotta to wait until my credit builds up and I finish saving a down payment up. Should take until next summer. So one more year of slumming it for me.

So you'd prefer that the neighbors who come and go were dealing crack and doing drive by shootings? And when the neighbor kids come by instead of leaving a mess you'd prefer they take your stuff?  I'm guessing you sleep pretty well. Not woken up by gunfire every night? Yeah, you're annoyed by the people who live around your apartment but at least you and your family are pretty safe. Count your blessings it could be a lot worse.

Naw. Slanging Yay is my game. I got fiends surrounding the block, soon as I open up my rock house door. They better not be trying to push weight on my turf.

I gots this block locked down. Yo. A mouse doesn't even fart without my permission. Unless it speaks Spanish or Punjabi. In which case I can't understand the mouse. So I can't grant it permission to break wind.

I jest I jest. I couldn't help myself. I'm feeling kinda gangsterous tonight.

Seriously though. You are right. It could be worse.

Imagine what they say about you.

Name wise; Gringo, Gran Cuello Rojo (Big Red Neck), Amigo, and some other choice phrases.

Other things: Nothing but nice stuff. I get along with most all my neighbors. Least the ones in my new building and old building.

Raider I would have never guessed you could speak Spanish. Try this next time they make you mad. "Soy un grollia. Si me haces enojar. Te despedazaré a pedazos." If you translate that. It means. I am a grollia. If you tick me off. I will rip you to pieces. Or as close as I can get with a English to Spanish dictionary. I will admit I know a little bit of Spanish. Just not enough to speak it in a sentence.

Hey Homie, Come to the great white north we call Chicago. My next door neighbors are finally moving out after being foreclosed on exactly 2 years ago. (I wish I could live rent free for 2 years) The house is in need of serious remodeling, and something to get that Nigerian food smell to disappear. The water heater is the only appliance newer than 1978. I know because I installed it a few years back. Steaks are on the grill and beer is in the fridge awaiting your arrival.

I could buy it dirt cheap now. Then use it as my summer house. Or as a home base for working in the Northern states. Beer and steaks is making it even more tempting.
