Great catches man! It makes me want to jig fishing.  Too bad I have to wait for 2 months. 

Need some jig advise. It's not simple for me. I swear that I have tried every method of fishing with a jig, watched video after video about it. I still cannot get a jig bite. What's up with that. Black blue, crayfish, white, stand up, bottom bumping, etc, etc, etc. I get lots of bass on trick worms, chatter bait, spinners and plugs but cannot get the jig bite. ADVISE PLEASE.

Got all 3 on a 1/2 oz. SK Hack Attack jig in Summer Craw.  I've also been catching them on 1/2 oz. Terminator Pro Series in Blue Pumpkin.  Havoc Pit Bosses for trailers.

What have the weather conditions been like for you while trying out a jig? If the water is still cold, and the bass are still lethargic try down sizing your presentation, and fish slower. Iv been throwing a 5/16 oz jig with a chunk trailer alot recently and have been hammering them. Jig fishing takes a lttle bit to get used to. What are your rods specs that your using? If you dont have a decent rod made for bottom contact baits, you could be getting bit and simply dont realize it. Alot of times, they will eat your jig and you cant feel anything. Be sure to train yourself to line watch.

Not sure how much advice I can give.  I guess all I can really do is tell you what I've been doing.  Pitch and flip at every piece of cover that you think might hold fish.  Try and get as close as you can or even up under it if possible.  The cove I've been fishing has logs and laydowns everywhere but you could also look for pockets along weed lines or holes in among patches of lily pads.  Let the jig sink on a slack line and sit on the bottom for a few seconds.  If you don't get bit, give it 2 quick hops.  If still no bites, hop it back to you 2 hops at a time.  If you do get bit, reel up the slack and slam the hook home.  Make multiple casts to the same cover until you feel like you've thoroughly fished it and then move on.  Like BigBlock said, jig fishing can be tough to pick up.  I tried all last season and didn't get my first jig fish til last week.  Like any lure or presentation, confidence plays a big key.  But the best way to build confidence is to catch fish so it's kind of a catch 22.

Nice fish man! I live for that thump on a jig. Everyone else can have the topwater bites that are supposed to be the best, give me some solid fish eating jigs on a short line and stout gear and I'm in heaven

There's nothing like a tap tap tap, or when the line starts to jump around.

Most people don't have the patience to fish this way but i love using a jig as a search bait from shore. Most of my friends are power fisherman but i l love fan casting a jig from shore and slowly work it way back to me.I used to hear comments from my buddies about how long i takes me between casts but i love the feeling of  the jig making contact with the bottom structure and the addicting feeling of that tap that Bankbeater was talking about. I also love the option with jig fishing to be able to toss it out and reel it back in fast like a spinnerbait or crankbait.

What you just did is a great example of why this site is so great. I remember when you where new and weren't confident I. Jigs and asked questions about them and now you are catching good fish and giving EXCELLENT ADVICE.
