Used Soft Plastics.

Featured Replies

Do you put your used soft plastics back in the bag? Throw them out? Or put them in a seperate bag full of used baits? Im talking about a perfectly fishable soft plastic, not a torn up one. What do you guys do?

right back in the bag they came from, I always carry some super glue with me too. Anytime I catch a fish if there is a small tear on the bait I glue it up then back out it goes.

Same here. Just back in the bag. The torn up ones get a treatment of Mend-It when I get home. Mend-It is amazing stuff, that company has saved me hundreds of dollars in soft plastics.

I keep hearing about mend it, have you ever tried super glue. If so is there any difference between the two?

Mend it doesn't leave a stiff spot on the bait

Mend it actually fuses the soft plastic back together, unlike super glue where it just sticks it together.

Where is Mend it sold?

I got it from tackle warehouse.

I put my used plastics in seperate zip lock bags. I keep the used plastics from contaminating the new plastics. Bacteria or activating the salts on the new plastics from the water on the used plastics.

I either throw them out or use them for a trailer, never back in the bag though.

I always bring a separate bag with me to throw all the ones that get ripped up a bit. Like mentioned earlier I use Mend-it, great stuff a little bottle last forever. Like someone else said it actually fuses the plastic and leaves the repair soft just like the original plastic, doesn't make a hard spot on the bait like super glue.

I got a bottle last year on a whim just to see what it was like and have really been using it more than I anticipated. It's really saving me some money my Rage Tail baits

Those half senkos work on days the senkos are hotter than normal.

I keep used ones separate and real beat up one separate from those. I use mendit for very minor repairs or for fixing the outer layer on swim baits. Any heavy work gets done with a hot knife to melt the plastic back together if the bait it worth saving. Mendit works ok but takes a little to setup and there is no real substitute for actually melting a bait back together.

Last year I caught 63 fish on 1 basstrix swimbait just to see of I could do it. I still have the bait and have kept it just because. It is by far the most fish I have ever caught on 1 piece of plastic in my life.

I usually just toss them in a pile on the deck of the boat if im in a hurry. Then I salvage what I can once I get the time.

I wonder if the mend-it for lures is the same stuff as the mighty mend-it for fabric. The fabric mighty mend-it is a lot cheaper $10 for 4oz
