Essential June Bass Lures

Featured Replies

Going on a fishing trip in New York (Chautauqua Lake) during the first week of June - any essential June bass lures I should make sure I have?  Essential colors?

What's the water clarity and main forage? What type of cover and structure will you be fishing mostly? Then I can help point you in the right direction more. Water temps should be mid 60s up there by then but I could be wrong.

Well, as much as I hate them ( and seldomly fish them )  I think that practically anywhere Senkos will catch fish, so there´s your essential lure, Watermelon and Green pumpkin seem to catch fish everywhere so there´s your essential colors.

Senko in red flake or bps stock o in Amber red flake.

Brushogs in black red flakes

Carolina Rigged senko and brushogs.

Texas Rig, 1/4 oz weight, 3/0 straight shank round bend hook

#86 best bass lake in the world.

Looks like this lake has both a LMB and SMB population that the locals over look.

I would go with gold double willow spinner bait in chartreuse and white with chartreuse trailer, spring crawdad colored DD 14 crankbait and a 3/8 oz jig PBJ with Alabama craw trailer for the smallmouth and LMB.

It's been a family tradition to go here every summer, but it's been impossible for me to get there the last few years because of work.....my largest smallmouth and largemouth bass have come from this lake , the smallmouth was 21in+.... My first, and only haha, Muskie came from lake Chautauqua as well....definitely anxious to spend what will be a solid four days of fishing there!
