Costa Del Mar 580 glass

Featured Replies

With every new day out on the water with a rod and reel I believe I learn something. After watching countless shows and reading numerous articles I decided that my next purchase would be some serious new shades. More research revealed that the Costa Del Mar 580 glass while expensive is worth the price based on longevity and performance. Now I'm stuck I need some advice on what color glass to get and whether to get the mirrored version or the regular glass lens. All information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John McNamara :D

I have the Green Mirror ones and I love them. My next pair will be Amber 580's. They are well worth the money.

I have a pair wave killers with amber glass lenses the best investment I have made on fishing gear. In fact I am about to buy another pair.

Longevity . . . . Eh, not so much. The lenses are very fragile I have had two pairs broken now due to just bumping my head against something lightly with them on.

I had been using Costa Tropic Stars with the CR39 interchangeable lenses.

Just got the Zane in 580 Copper and there is a WORLD of difference.

I took my new green mirrored (copper base) 580g man-o-wars out for the first time, last night. I think they're going to make a world of difference. I've always used the cheap-o walmart ones. I don't think I'll regret the change at all. Just make sure you go try on the frames you like. They all fit very different.

I wont go polycarbonate again.
