Spinnerbait With A Plastic Trailer?

Featured Replies

So i have this nice spinnerbait that lost its skirt on a snag of some sort, so i decided not to let the nice lure go to waste just because of a skirt, i put on a plastic trailer (mr crappie joker) and it looks interestingly enticing. What are your opinions:

Only one way to find out. Fish with it and see if they might like it. If no luck, ou can buy replacement skirts of various colors at BPS.

Nothing wrong with that, it'll come in handy when they want a smaller profile.

Ok thanks, ill give it a try soon

The flash alone should get a few reaction strikes

I've replaced the skirt on a spinnerbait with a 4in. curly tail grub, a solid body swimbait and a worm. They work with or without the skirt, but seem to work better alone during the warm water period after the spawn.  The best 'replacement' I've found is a 4in. tube with the tentacles cut longer and turned inside out.

I know, I've got too much time on my hands to come up with some of the modifications I try.  Sometimes it isn't a b*%#h getting old and no, I don't do drugs.  :drinking-60:

I would go with a hot chartreuse skirt with a 4" split double tail grub trailer in chartreuse from mister twister.

Swimming Fluke on a spinnerbait.

You're welcome :)

I've done a lot of fishing with a grub on a jighead with an overhead spinner attached. I can't see any reason why a spinnerbait with a soft plastic in lieu of a skirt shouldn't work. Bass hit an extremely wide variety of lures and combinations therefrom and this should be no exception.
