I Hit The Jackpot At Academy

Featured Replies

Went in to buy some soft plastics and all the packs of Zoom baits rang up for $0.98/ea.

i didn't see a sale tag on any of them, and didnt ask questions at the register.  highlight of my day so far.

:D

Gotta love a sweet deal!!!

Go back and get the rest of them.

This is exactly what I would have done also :) Hard to beat a deal like that :)

Academy a lot of times has incredible deals, last time I purchased a big bunch of Gamakatsu EWG red hooks ( no, I wasn´t looking for red hooks ) for 50 cents a pack, for that price they beat regular hooks.

Me too, not all of them but certain types/colors were. They're sold out of all those now though  :eyebrows:

haha I wonder who did that :Idontknow:

What is Academy? I have never heard of it living here on the west coast. Do they have an online store?

Most sporting good stores (Dicks, Sports Authority, etc) seem to have the retail philosophy of ask inflated prices and do lots of sales. Academy however does an everyday low price approach, and in the hundreds of things I have bought there after price checking against the other major retailers only 1 item was more expensive. I have gotten to the point where I feel comfortable buying things from there without even doing competitive shopping.

They have great store brand products whereas a lot of other store brand stuff is junk with a few exceptions. I carry a bunch of H2O hard baits of all kinds and several of their rods now, and they're all great fish catchers. Their squarebills are my favorite, and only $4  :respect-059:

A new Academy opened about 10 minutes up the road from me.  Can't wait to check it out.  Been doing my retail bait shopping at Wally and getting some pretty good deals.

my wally world has the yum dingers for 3$ bucks a pack and I loaded up

I would have cleared them out of all the watermelon reds and green pumpkins in all the sizes and styles.

Yeah man, you nailed it! Their house brand is legit. I got a crank bait on clearance from them a month ago for $.98, I caught about 25 bass before I snagged it and lost it.

I haven't tried their rods yet but could use a good spinning rod, maybe I will look into them.

We do not have academy in FL south of Jacksonville. Whenever I travel outside of the peninsula, I try to stop at academy. Their selection isn't as big as bps but my god their prices are really good for retail and H2O is a good brand. I would trade dicks, sports authority, and even bps to have a academy in town. Might even throw in gander mtn.

My local academy had KVDs on sale for like $3 a pop so I snagged a bunch. Also this past weekend before the big bass tourny, they has norman Mid cranks on sale for $3 a pop in my favorite color. Snagged all 5 of them. Sometimes, I really do love that place!

LOL that's what I bought on Sunday.  They're only 8-packs so a good deal, not a steal though.
