Will A Cool Night Alter Top Water?

Featured Replies

The past 7 days here in NC the temps have been in the high 80's during the day and 60's overnight.

However tonight will be in the high 50's and tomorrow will be in the high 70's.

Top water has been on fire this past week. I am headed on the water tomorrow and want to use top water again. Will this cooler night make the top water bite less likely?

There won't be any wind in the morning either. Water will be slick as glass.

only one way to find out....

True that! I just loaded the truck up. My wife looked at me in the garage and said "you have an addiction". It's 11pm and I just got the top water lures ready. We shall see. ;-)

I hope they will still respond to the froggies. Kermit looks delicious!

I love the first cold night of the year in s.florida. on these nights frogs seek warmth in the water and it seems the bass are gorging on them all night along the weedlines. Some of my best nights have been like that.

Today was even better than before the cool night! It was twice the top water action. :-)

Funny enough, I found the same results. Last night in South FL we dropped down to 70 ish (usually in the 80's at night) Had no luck with anything today except for running a worm right at the surface, and got rewarded with a few nice blow ups

Blow ups are the bomb!!!!! Literally lol !

I cast and once the lure hits the top water, my heart rate goes up as I twitch and pause, twitch and pause the lure. Waiting for the badda booom!!

One cool night usually won't effect it much. A few nights in a row will though.

Crushed them with topwaters yesterday, after this cool snap. Seemed like it helped here as it was almost going to the summer patterns.  Almost like it brought the fish out a bit from the tight cover, they were willing to chase.
