Anyone care to share if they are finding them in boca ? Like military trail or around that area. I can find em no problem down south or in the delray area but i would like to know if they have come back in boca .

Any water connected to the water system around Glades and the Turnpike will definitely hold Peacocks and nice bass to.. .

This past week or so has been frustrating for peacocks in the Delray-Boynton area.  Just haven't been seeing too many and the ones I've seen have been lethargic.  That changed just a bit yesterday, saw a little bit of aggression and I caught 2, but quite small.  Peacocks do not school up according to size like many other species, I have caught and seen others with very decent peacocks in this area.  It's a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

A good bet if it's public water from shore in Delray or Boynton, I've fished it.

Any interest in linking up with a newby both to the area and to peacocks to show them the ropes?

From what I can figure, the place I caught that one is connected to Lake Ida. I've seen, but haven't caught them, further north than that. I don't know how everything is laid out, but if there are systems in Boca that are connected to Ida then I'd guess they are in there too. 

 

Also, a guy from another forum mentioned that he was catching them in Boca. I don't know where, and wasn't going to ask. 

I've caught a few in the Pembroke Pines area. Largest 3 lb. i see a lot of little ones hanging out in my man made lake behind my house. Haven't spotted any big ones on the edges yet.

You're most welcome jamesbrownsplit, imo the closer to Lake Ida the better.  I have not caught any in Palm Beach county west of the freshwater spillways, they're mostly around Military Trail.

 

@Shanes, I caught one at about 8;15 this morning exactly the way I described in my previous post using a small jig, I was north of Lake Ida.  

had lots of luck in the tamarack as well as weston area today. they were enjoying the jig. of course no bed fish !!!

Try out the lake right by the Miami airport a ton of big peacocks with a lot of other fish. largies, snook., tarpon and a few jacks

You won't catch them in the lakes unless someone put them in their residential one.  The main canal coming off Lake Ida, the water level is low from Woolbright south, water level is higher north of Boynton Beach blvd.  The canal @ Caloosa park holds some peacocks.  As I mentioned before they are not very aggressive in this area and not easy to catch, but I've sen a bit more activity the last couple of days.  Miami or Weston is a turkey shoot for them, I was there a couple of weeks ago, I doubt I'll go again it's too far.  I use jigs like this, I make them.

You can try this I have it works.  Buy some cheap crappie jigs, use them as is or take a couple of  4" lengths of knitting yarn and tie near the head of the jig with sewing thread, apply clear nail polish, don't need a vise you can just hold it.  The fish could care less that it doesn't look professional.

i use the brand "offshore angler" from basspro in quarter oz, very strong hook, an i can cast it a mile on my little 1000. I use bright green, yellow, white, pink, red.

You guys got it made just 5hrs or so south of me. I'm jealous!
