Why Did The Bass Dissapear?

Featured Replies

It's been about 2 weeks since the spawn ended here. Up till today they've been easily caught near their spawning areas but today they were just nowhere to be found. It's strange because the perch started spawning now but the bass seem to be ignoring them.

try a little deeper, around where the depth changes. They are most likely there waiting to come shallow for a feeding.

Try fishing ledges or dropoffs.... Points that go from a few feet to about 10-15 or more. Try a Carolina rig, football jig, Texas rig..

Bass are vulnerable in the shallows -- the environment negates many of their strongest survival qualities. So they don't stick around there longer than they need to.

They will still come shallow to feed when they need to, but often choose to 'hang out' in environments that offer more protection and provide more ambush opportunities than the shallows do.

That said, bass aren't hiveminded fish, so you may find some anywhere on any particular day:) But generally, they will go where they can make best use of their strongest traits.

After 2 weeks the majority of the bass may have moved and located in their summer seasonal routines.

Lots of young of the year baitfish, crawdads and terrestrial critters to feed on.

You can check the per spawn locations for bass, they don't hang around very long.

Good luck.
