Hey guys, is it better to keep them in their bags or is a plano box OK ?

The bags they come in is the best way to store them.

Bags for sure. If you leave them in the sun in a Plano box (I'm thinking of the clear ones, but the tackle boxes probably won't be much different) it'll heat up the inside and possibly make your plastics stick to the inside of the box... Yep I've had it happen 

Through the winter I take my good plastics out of the bag and throw them in a plano box with some oily fish attractant.

The only reason why I do this, is sometimes my plastics form a memory in the bags after a long time (long winter here!) and I will bust them open opening weekend and half of them will be ruined.

I just do this for the guys that will ruin like my zoom super speed craws...senkos sit nicely in their package.

Long-term: Original bag

Short-term: Plano Box

I store baits in their original packages, but things I fish are

kept in a Plano Box. Some of the stuff in the Plano are going

on 5 years old or more! Some bags probably date back into

the '90s.

For storage and access ease, I always use a plano box and have never had an issue.

I label each box with what's in it and make it easies to find what I want when I want it.

I keep mine in their original bags inside the zip lock bags of my BPS soft plastics binder.

I used to store all of mine in the original bags. I switched over to using Plano boxes a while back and have found no negative effect on any of my plastics. Some of them have been in there for quite a long time now. Much more organized that way for me.

I prefer keeping them in the bags because it takes up less space, and is easier for me to identify, seeing as my collection is not as diverse as others. I have left them is a box before and had them stick to the box almost like they melted and reset. I would like to eventually move them all into a binder however.

Years ago plastic tackle box trays would react to plastisol in plastic baits and they would dissolve and stick to the trays. If you stick to brand name boxes, i.e. Plano, Falcon, BPS, etc. that are made for storing tackle, you won't have this trouble. I have plastics that have been stored in Plano boxes for 7 or 8 years and they are still like new.

The best reason for keeping them in the original bags is, so you can remember who made them in case you want to buy more. I have had that problem. LOL
