New Rage Bug Durability

Featured Replies

Just picked up some new rage bugs today I don't know if I will get to use them this weekend but how durable are they

The more life-like the soft plastic is in both action and texture, the less durable it's likely to be. For me Rage Tail baits aren't very durable but they catch so many fish that I couldnt care less about the durability.

I've never had no problems with the claws or anything getting ripped off to bad I just have a problem with them tearing bad at the top of the hook near the eye

I've had problems with small fish biting the claws off, but I usually get 2 fish per craw. After one fish I turn the bait over and re-hook it.

Try using the Owner hooks with the screw lock. They will make your baits last quite a bit longer.

So far I have had them last between 1 fish and 8(and still going).  I will fish that same bug this weekend and let you know how many more it holds up to.  But I would say it is like any other bug/rodent type bait and durability is 3-4 fish on most.

I usually try to keep super glue in my bag an glue them back together where they tear sometimes

Rage products are honestly some of the least durable I've used, but they are dynamite!! You just can't beat the action. And they come in fancy packs

Use a lighter to melt the hole creates by the hook back together. Also keep your baits with one appendage and melt another appendage on it.

Durability isn't something I ever worry about when using a great bait.  I'm perfectly happy getting one fish per bait, especially if I feel like the bait is drawing more strikes than another bait would.  If I go through a couple of bags of plastics it just means I had a good day.

I'm averaging between 1-8 but like you I want fish in the livewell not lures in my tackle box!

My attitude exactly which is the reason I fish baits like the Senko & some of the Rage line because they put fish in the boat. As suggested get Mend It if durability is a concern otherwise pick the baits that work the best, you can always buy more .

I love Ragetail Toads and they catch fish, but their legs get nipped off. Can't glue what's not there. lol. I'm sure Ragetail loves it though, guaranteed return customers.

True! No shortage of cheaper less effective plastics available though... Means more rage bugs for me!

You mean within the same pack? Or in the rage lineup?
