Boat Trailer Bunks

Featured Replies

Anyone tried or used the new plastic wood like for decks for the trailer bunks? Im wondering if the material could be used with no carpet. Would be nice to not have the carpet on there, the work of stapling it down, etc.

I don't believe they are rigid enough to use as structural members of the trailer. See them hanging out the back of trucks all the time drooping almost to the ground.

Pneumatic stapler is the best investment in those cases. Takes us half the time to carpet anything

Try to find a trailer manf close by. Usually you can buy already carpeted bunks cheap. I bought four for my trailer for $30

already got the stapler, already have the carpet kit. Just wondering if it is all needed and if the plastic would work as well or possibly better.

Check out ultimate bunk boards. I had them on my last boat and they were great. Just make sure you don't pull your boat out of the water before the bow strap is on, your boat will shoot off like a wet bar of soap.

I see the difference in the plastics now. HDPE vs a wood blend. I will look into HDPE at the local stores and then decide. Thx guys.

I would still use carpet on them to keep them from scratching and digging into the boat as it is towed.
