Livewell Problem

Featured Replies

Hey guys I think I have a livewell problem, I have put a water hose in the livewell while the boat is outside the water and I can't get the wells to hold the water. When im on the water I realized that if i put my livewells on manual they will fill but always be filling, if i put them on circulate they will drain. I feel that the problem is that it can't hold the water in there. If i leave them on manual they will fill but drain the battery.

Also i fell like the guy who wrapped the boat did not put the every tags( Fill/manual/circulate) in its place as I have two identical switches.post-45345-0-41077000-1404335397_thumb.j

And I feel like this switch is not working as nothing is haenning when im trying to use it

If someone has a Nitro NX882 maybe you could tell me if my switches are wrongly assigned.

And for others what is the proper way to operate the livewells?

thank you!

Not seeing the boat, I'm purely guessing... but I'd guess you have two livewells and a switch for each.

Make sure the switch in the bottom picture is not on empty when you are trying to fill them. Turn it to fill and then each livewell to fill. Then turn it to recirc and each livewell to auto.

Should be a Flow-Rite System 4.

You may need to clean out the valves or flush it out really good. That PDF will get you started on its operation though. As far as the switches go, I'm not familiar with that boat.

Wow that's great! A lot of help, i will try to find out if the switched are wrong. But I always left this one to the empty position, according to this PDF it means that it would also let the water come in, wich is prbably why after fshing for a while and trying to go to another spot the boat would hardly come to plane, its getting water in the boat all the time.

No problem. :). That's a handy little document I stumbled across one day.

Just found this photo of the switches before they were wraped, so there is two almost identical switches, I have a 2in1 livewell, its a large livewell separated with a plastic sheet with holes in it. Can anyone explain to me how to use those switches properly?

From the pics it looks like you have two pumps. The switch on the right is the main pump and the one on the left is an auxiliary pump. It would be used to help fill the livewell quickly or to be used if your main pump goes down. The flow-rite dial needs to be put in the fill position when off plane and that will allow fresh water to be pulled into the livewell. Once full, switch it to the recirc mode to retain the water in the well and prevent it from draining out while on plane. You can occasionally put it back on fill throughout the day to bring in more fresh water into your livewell. If left on empty it won't hold water when on plane and it will usually get pretty low even when off plane.

That "switch" opens/closes the livewell plug, pretty much like the drain plug... so when you put it in EMPTY you are leaving it open... thats why the livewells are always getting water, but they will only fill so much..in my boat it is about 1/2 their capacity.... when i am not using the livewells i leave it Closed, no need to be carrying that extra weight...

so, you need to put it in FILL, so it closes the livewell plug... I am not familiar with the 3 position switch, on mine it is only OPEN/CLOSE... I think if you put it in FILL you will maintain water in the livewell, and then put it in RECIRC to allow the recirculation pump to recirculate the water...

I have a 98 Bass Tracker. My live well is set up with a cable operated control valve for the livewell. It went bad and quit holding water in mine. I went through this twice. Instead of paying $50 for a chear plastic valve body I bought a $2 plug for the livewell drain.Problem solved.
