Is Power Pro Super Slick 8 Worth The Extra Money Over Power Pro? And What Poundage Line For My Spinning Reels?

I'm looking to get either Hi-Viz Yellow Power Pro Super Slick 8 or Power Pro braid for my two spinning reels. They are for bass fishing and are a new Shimano Stradic Ci4 2500 and Stradic FJ 2500. I've had great success with Power Pro and was wondering if the Super Slick 8 is worth the extra money over Power Pro and if it is, why is it worth the extra cash. I want use Hi-Viz Yellow so I can watch my line when fishing Senkos. This will all be for largemouth bass fishing. I was thinking 15lbs. test because my friend got 20lbs. Fireline for his spinning reel and it felt too thick and not limber. Like throwing a large rope. Perhaps Power Pro's 20lbs. diameter is thinner then Firelines. I don't know.

So, is Power Pro Super Slick 8 worth the extra money over regular Power Pro and if so, why is if worth it?

What poundage like should I get for my spinning reels?

Yes! It is worth the extra money IMO because it is so smooth and doesn't dig in as much as normal PP, I feel I cast Super slick better but it is really just preference, some people prefer the normal PP and some like Super Slick.

For spinning gear 10-20lb braid will be fine, so yes 15lb can work great

I think I got 20-30 on my Daiwa 2500 spinning reel. Regular PP though. Hear good things about Super Slick though.

I'm not a fan of orig powerpro anymore now that I got 2 bad spools this spring. I am trying the slick 8 now, no opinion yet.

Another one you may consider is sufix 832 in neon lime. Its visible enough to see well and a lot easier to see on sunny days vs the hi-vis yellow. I've been using it since march and I have to say its by far the best braid I have used.

Agreed, I've always been a PP guy and even have used Slick 8 on my spinning reels.

I went to 832 and never looked back.

I'll look into the Suffix. Why do you guys like or so much?

What about the Sufix 832 in Hi-Vis Yellow instead of Neon Green, which on is easier to see on sunny days?

Super 8 slick is definitely better than the old Power Pro due to it being an 8 carrier braid with reduced factory goop coating.  I'm not convinced that it's going to be enough  of an improvement on spinning tackle to justify switching, but hey, satisfy that curiosity and go for it.

The 832 is the roundest braid made, and the toughest, everyone complains about braids abrasion resistance, try 832 and you won't believe a braid can be this tough, I won't buy PP again, and after one time using super slick was a deal breaker also when the stuff starts flaking off and offers no better abrasion resistance than regular.

Round, casts very well, manages extremely well being overspooled on a spinning reel (done on purpose), SUPER strong (I use 6# which breaks at 19-22#), and just overall a pleasure to use. Not a one negative thing to say about it.

I do have a negative on the lo-vis green, it went white very very quick on me. But I've made literally thousands of casts with the neon lime and it is still the same color as it was in the package. I use the neon lime for walleye mostly, where I need good line visibility.

I have the Super Slick on my shakyhead rod, 10lb test 2lb diameter. I love the stuff so far but this is my first year using it so can't comment on how it last in the long haul but it's been great for about 6 months now.

What I do like about the Super Slick is wind knots pull thru much easier.  I have 10# on 1 reel and works just fine.  As with most of my bass fishing I cast to a specific area, distance is not a paramount concern.  I'm not too crazy about the price, I'm pretty content with my other brands.

So, what poundage do you guys use?

6# sufix 832 (almost identical in dia and breaking strength of 10# PP) on one reel for shakey heads

10# nanofil for drop shot (comes off the spool like lightning)

30# sufix 832 for flippin

65# PP S8 for frogs (no opinion yet)

I used to use 10# power pro yellow for the first two for years but have found these to be much better. I used to use the 30# for casting as well, and honestly don't see much difference between the 30# PP and 30# 832.
